Updates are still coming for the AmigaOne which dates back to 2004 so I think it's safe to assume updates will keep coming for your 2008/2009 SAM too...

Even with the new A1-PX coming I still plan on buying a SAM, because I don't have one, (edit) it's the only board which is suitable to build a laptop (/edit) and it will take a while before the new board is available, the OS ready for it, and everything else needed for normal daily use.
