| I get a feeling that Titan is the name of a motherboard and so is Nemo
Nemo is the small one (like an A1200 small) Titan is the big bad ass (like a real A4000T big)
oh well i dunno, curiosity killed the cat, certainly does it with me _________________ Amiga is additive coz it is fun to use |

| Oh my word... I think I've figured it out. The reason why the space in the mobo picture where the CPU should be is covered, why there's an AMD southbridge even though all PPC SoCs have most if not all of the components in the SB, the cryptic comments about the number of cores.
There's no physical CPU in the board, is there?

| It's not Dual Core... The in page comments just said so.
Therefore my initial assumption that it is a PPC460GTx or PPC460SX from Applied Micro still holds. The chip package on the mobo looks the same. (although it is still too blurry to be sure).
I also argued from the initial appearance of the classic Guru Meditation on Day 1 that it had to be about classic emulation. It is most likely an FPGA for custom chips and whatever else you can imagine, and that is why it will be whatever we(the community) make it.
Failing that.... what the hell could it be? .... a Transmeta chip? _________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. Commodore/AMIGA "Beautiful, High-Performance, Home Computers for Creativity and Entertainment." |

I am quite proficient in ancient Greek and Rome mythology, as well as their actual histories, but I have no idea what to make of the riddle. In all honesty, I haven't actually got out my books yet.
I'll see if I can come up with something. |

Rogue said 8 processes at 25% load each. That means either dual core or two instruction threads._________________

| Wait a second.... maybe there are two cores.....
1 x PPC chip 1 x 68k running in the FPGA.
No surely not. Last edited by BigBentheAussie on 04-Jan-2010 at 12:45 PM.

| Why are some people still obsessing over 68K emulation or old custom chip emulation in hardware?
This stuff is dead. Dead. Dead as in parrot.
There is enough software emulation out there - especially now that Hyperion has legal access to ROM images - that wasting hardware on backwards compatibility is folly.
IMO, naturally.

I think the PPC CPU itself is actually in the FPGA. This is the quote from the page:
Quote:
No, it doesn't have the number of cores you are thinking of. Whatever number you are thinking of. At least, not necessarily. |
I think what this means is that one can create new cores as they become necessary, and remove them if you need space in the FPGA for something else. |

Oh. C'mon... How likely is there to be a PPC core on an FPGA?... 68k.... maybe. Obviously the FPGA is going to make a pretty weak PPC chip, but a damn fine 68k with custom chips. _________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. OTOH, "a new incarnation once though lost" could also mean a new incarnation of the original amiga hardware..... More specific, a new incarnation of the AA chipset, since the sources for that chipset was considered lost.
Ah well, we have 23 hours left to solve the riddle.

Good thinking!!
Might kinda knock the wind out of Natami's sails.....well probably not. It'd be better than AGA but I doubt as good as Natami.... Still.... No reason, except size constraints perhaps, why you couldn't get Natami on the FPGA._________________ Leo Nigro, CTO Commodore USA, LLC Opinions expressed are my own and not those of C= USA. the very first tree? in the bible that would probably be the apple (??) tree, what is it in greek mythology? [/quote]
The only know apple/tree/myth to me that fits for your answer is the Tenth achievement of Hercules. Hercules was instructed by Eyristheas (king of Mycenes) to bring back the golden apples of Esperides, which were a wedding gift to Goddess Hera, from Goddess Earth. The apples were kept Esperides and the dragon Ladona with his 100 heads on mount Atlas in the land of the SuperNorths (above Caucasos). Hercules did not knew where the land was and the answer was given by Nireas, the king of the Sea. After finding mount Atlas, he sent Atlas (the Titan), after a proposition he took from Prometheus, to retrieve the golden apples whilst he took on his shoulders the whole world. When the Titan came back he refused to hold again the world but Hercules tricked him and made him done so. Afterwards, when Hercules returned to Mycenes, the king who send him, told him to keep the apples, but Hercules gave them to the Goddess Athena who returned back to the garden of Esperides.
Please note, that I do not how the ancient Greek names are exactly (letter by letter) translated in English. Also the above was a a very brief summary of the actual achievement of Hercules._________________
