@pixie
Same question as I posed to bbrv in the other thread this is mentioned.
More ambiguities. And pray tell, what does Efika have to do with AROS, classic AOS, OS4 or even MOS, when the above don't run on the Efika?

From the blog:

Quote:
Starts with the Arcade Games Construction Kit and the EFIKA. You can use a choice of operating systems with the Kit, but since we are talking about Amiga Reunification we are starting with the basics: the classic AmigaOS, MorphOS, OS4 and AROS (the Kit download for AROS is coming!). The Kit and Gunnar are a great place to start.

Nice offer for free Efikas, but again, the Efika has any relationship to the above listed OSes how?

Oh, and....not in the right category. This one's off to Amiga general chat, has nothing to do with OS4.

Well said. I too was wondering how come those two external disk drives in that A1200 picture only had one cable coming from them.

Pixie you can't believe that an Efika is built into that case?

Why not? Heck, anyone remember the "Capuccino" on thinkgeek.com? That was a whole desktop x86 system in a similar case.

But the back connectors does not match the EFIKA connectors at the Genesi
EFIKA site.. Why not?
Where is the monitor connector btw?
Only two USB? One for a mouse and one for keyboard.. And then? how do you
connect anything else? A printer? A scanner? A digital camera?
This is truly not meant for desktop usage that's for sure..

A new wireless multipurpose connection protocol... "ESP!"

(on the thinkgeek Capuccino, the connectors were on both sides)

These are just pictures of an 'M9' Mac Mini external harddrive case. Click here for example.

@pixie

After the way he was treated on the MOS mailing list when he asked for help, I can't imagine the developer of the game construction kit being involved with this little project.

@klesterjr

Treated how? Why would anyone treat a developer bad? That's just stupid!
Especially for a really small platform like AmigaOS/MorphOS..

By these comments I DO NOT mean everyone should kiss a** either, if the
author doesn't truly deserve it.

Wait, not so fast!

This Taiwanese company makes boxes like the ones above for ODM/OEM customers. The one shown costs $40 including fans, ports, cabling and PSU. They also offer product assembly, board manufacturing & distribution services. Check it out:

Macpower & Tytech Technology Co., LTD.
http://www.macpower.com.tw/services/
8F, No.52, MinQuan Road, Hsintien City
Taipei 231, Taiwan R.O.C

Good night!

And video out?

Or are the above just stock photos, and not actually housing an Efika? Nothing _wrong_ with that per se, except of course for people that expect to see this as an available product to be purchased...somewhere?

I wouldn't want to give any quotes out of context, but I guess it can be said at least that he and the MOS Team guys had disagreements about things like compiler versions, and the manner of his communication with them itself became a problem after a while. I had the same reaction as klesterjr. If something can in fact materialize after all the arguing on the MOS list, great, but it seems like odds are against it. I assume BBRV see that mailing list too, so wonder how those personality conflicts, etc. square from their point of view.

This company has various products using similar case stylings.
http://www.macpower.com.tw/products/peripherals/dma/d7wdma_lgb
http://www.macpower.com.tw/products/peripherals/dma/d7
So as you can see they would adapt their design to any project.

Ah, ok. Not a case of "marketing gone wild"

If you're going for a custom case, I don't suppose you could arrange for a slot-loading CD?

@wolfe

Did you read post #14 above? This is an OEM case, probably typical of what could be used. The whole idea is still at the concept/early development stage; there aren't any finished products so it's a little early to be shouting vaporware. Did you read the original blog post (or even this thread)? I believe the idea is to try to see what people can come up with, not to present a finished product already.
