| I was just curious as we seem to have programmers and developers who post here. I think there was some mention of Mid-May on this occuring. And also I know ACK posts here to. So I was curious is there was an update on this and if things are all still on track?
If I have the date/timing wrong or missed an update in between my apologies. _________________ Pegasos2 G3 running AOS 4.1 and MorphOS 2.0 Amikit user, tinkering with Icaros VM (AROS) EFIKA owner Amiga 1200 |

Yes!
The developers gathered together and trekked through middle Earth from Shire to the Mines of Moria. Here, they picked them up and are porting Open Office and Firefox as I speak. |

It was a serious question, I think it deserves a serious answer. This isn't all fun and games you know, this is the future of Amiga we're talking about here.
Last I heard the deliveries were being delayed because it turns out the Tooth Fairy won't carry the boards without proper insurance. Plus there was some concern about making sure the boards were certified ROHS compliant before tucking them under someone's pillow; and then there's the issue of where to get the teeth.

Well humor aside (and I did get a laugh on those) I really am seriously asking. :)

Seriously, this isn't the first thread. There was 1 on Moo or Org, I can't remember which. Noone has seen anything.
If I were you I would pin hopes on Acube or even Genesi. |

I hear ya. I just figured ACK is not the posting on Moo type and that here is a better choice to ask developers in the community, again at least rather than on Moo.

If only they had high-end boards. Is Genesi still workign on the Peg8641? Seems I heard they had canceled or back-burnered that one. I may get the Efika now that it's dirt cheap, but for OS4 I'd use my AmigaOne over the Efika. I'd use the ACK high-end board over the AmigaOne or Peg8641 if it becomes real._________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |

| fairlanefastback: I don't even know if he has any prototypes running.. I asked on IRC if he had any working prototypes and he didn't even answer my question. Maybe he missed it, but seriously, it wouldn't be the first time he's been overly optimistic.

The best thing about the $99 Efika is that, once MOS runs on it, a lot more software is going to get written that runs on both OS4 and MOS. The Efika is not powerful enough for serious software development, but it is very cheap and should have enough muscle to debug on. People can write their code on their more powerful AmigaOnes running OS4, and make sure the programs work on their Efikas running MOS. Bingo: twice the number of users get the benefit of the program, coders have a user base that's twice as big, and as a bonus the programs get tested on relatively weak hardware, making bloat easier to spot and eradicate. This will work even after more powerful boxes capable of running MOS get developed, the only thing is that the cheap Efikas should still remain after the more powerful boxes arrive.

They have been in production since 2005, so they should be.

| My prediction:
No dev boards, no commercial boards. Eighteen months of waiting, reports back about some new something or the other. Six months of silence, repeat.
