Yeah, I was commenting about the story you linked to (that compared Android to Amiga) rather than anything anyone here said.

Going back to Cell, I agree that the idea of using co-processors in a home computer is definitely something the Amiga started. I'm not convinced there's much else in common though - the custom chipset is highly dedicated to specific tasks (e.g. you cannot use the copper as a DSP) while the Cell's SPEs seem to be much more general-purpose. A lightweight OS sounds ideal for co-ordinating tasks across them, but I imagine AmigaOS would require loads of modifications (if not downright re-writing) to turn it into something that works seamlessly with the Cell and helps developers utilise it properly. Still, we can only dream....
