Well, "word on the street" is, that the original vision of a computerlike PS3 was the dream of Ken Kutaragi, which got fired after the full disaster of the PS3 failing at sales because of its too high price got imminent.

These days, the new people in command at Sony want to leave that trail, and get the PS3 back into being just a console and entertainment device, and that's it.

So, probably no more linux on the PS3 anymore...

It's still just a rumour at the moment, though...
