| Although US based Amiga, Inc has recently updated its website, the company still remains mum about its current software development roadmap. Since the lack of public announcement calls for qualified guesswork, this AmigaWorld.net Friday Night Poll raises the question about Amiga, Inc's and Amiga Development India's decade old Amiga DE platform. As always, please vent your opinions on this obscure topic in the corresponding AmigaWorld.net forum thread. _________________ That'll Put Marzipan In Your Pie Plate, Bingo 💻 Pro-Amiga, 🌍 Pro-Globalism, 🍅 Pro-Vegan, 🛦 Pro-NATO & 🇪🇺 Pro-Joint EU Defense Intervention Initiative |

i suspect there is no one working on much of anything, frankly. they're just trying to license the marks for some income -- any income -- while they look for a buyer. i doubt there are any 'employees' to speak of left.
just a guess, of course.

I'd say there is no one there, and they are doing nothing with DE. _________________ All glory to the Hypnotoad! |

AmigaDE is DEad, long DEad. The only thing Amiga Inc is doing is selling licenses and trying pretend like it is a vibrant business to sell itself to the highest bidder. _________________ Power Mac G4 "Quicksilver 2002" 800Mhz, 1.5GB RAM, Radeon 8500 MorphOS 2.7 (Registered) $225 total spent! |

I am surprised there is still someone to ask such questions. Maybe the next question will be "when the new Atari will be released?" _________________ Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci Sam460 1.10 Ghz AmigaOS 4 betatester Amiga Translator Organisation |

Since the question is specifically about DE, the answer is:
NOTHING!
If the question went beyond DE, well, then the answer would be Nothing good!

One thing that characterized Amiga people and their inventions from the very start, was a commitment to empowering each user. Now, Amiga has transformed itself into a software company dedicated to creating applications and services to help people access and control the content of their unique digital environment. We call this Digital Living™. |
Without AmigaDE I wouldn't be able to access or control ANY of the content in my unique digital environment. I'd call that being Digitally Screwed™._________________

How could anyone think that Amiga, Inc. is seriously working on anything other than licensing. _________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

| I think they're trying to figure out how badly their PSN account has been hacked and how long before Sony can get it back online. I hear they're having KillZone withdrawals.

Nice guess but I don't think that they are looking for a buyer.
What I like to know is: for how much money can "Amiga, Inc." be bought? This could be a good idea if AmigaOS has a great future (to prevent further quarrel).
I won't be surpriced if "Amiga, Inc." can't be bought. I won't be surpriced if someone tries to hamper the success of AmigaOS.

There's no conspiracy around AmigaOS. Current position of AmigaOS is reflection of current market._________________ OpenWindows Initiative. Port PS3 hardware to bananas. For free. Join today and receive expired $50 cupon from AI! |

Nothing. Amiga Inc aren't able to do anything themselves (do they currently have developers?) and I doubt the India division ever really existed.

As already said, there is no price to be set for Amiga Inc., just 'what the idiot values it'. This simply means that the current owner of the company can do with it what he wants (proven, IMO). Handing out licences to every farmer and his dog, playing Mr Nice & Shiny to everybody willing to believe. This attitude makes it very difficult for a customer, lacking proper background knowledge, to get a transparent and clear view of the situation and base their decisions upon it. The sole intention can only be to frustrate Hyperion c.s. in their attempt to build up a market around what is considered to be the Amiga OS.
Amiga Inc. has NO value, yet to obtain it one must delve deep in his coffers. This is a pre-emptive strategy with a reeking odour around it. Hyperion MIGHT want Amiga Inc. to some degree of desparity in order to make clear to potential customers what Amiga stands for. The price is set prohibitively high (for Hyperion) to be able to acquire Amiga Inc. In the meantime Amiga Inc is doling out licences for anything remotely related to its former core business. If you want to sell red checkered ice creams (or digestible socks), you can surely get a licence for it from Amiga Inc if you want to sell them as Amignums or any other Amiga related name.
Sad but true, just face it and try to live with it.

| "... As far as I know, the complicated history kind of goes like this. In 1982, Jay Miner founded Hi-Toro, later renamed as Amiga Corporation. In 1984, Commodore International bought Amiga Corporation. Then, in 1994, Commodore International went belly-up, selling all its assets to a German computer company called Escom, which in turn went under in 1996. Gateway 2000 then bought the Amiga brand, but they had to sell it again in 1999 to Amino Development for 5 million USD. Gateway retained ownership of Amiga's patents. ...
... Amino Development was Bill McEwen's company, and still is today, renamed as Amiga, Inc. ...
... In an ideal situation, either Hyperion or A-eon snaps this stuff up. Let's hope they can spare a few dimes." OSNews
