MorphOS would be the best starting point if one would like to build a modern (re)implementation of AmigaOS.

MorphOS suffers from same problems AmigaOS do. You'd need to break out from ABox.

you're still left with a OS that's stuck in 1994

Did you know that OS4 is the sole Amiga-like OS with working virtual memory implementation?

I think AROS would be better - it is open source.

@WolfToTheMoon

Maybe AmigaOS is a little stuck in the past but MS took (partly) the wrong path. It's way easier to get AmigaOS right than MSwindows.

Money is no issue if the development of AmigaOS is state-funded from Germany or the EU. The hardware is no issue because we need something better than Intel (which may soon get worse) and must start somewhere. AmigaOS on PPC is faster than MS on Intel.

BTW: I hardly can think of anything more unsecure than MS. Can you imagine that this stuff is used at british atom submarines?

(as always: IMHO)

No government agency would choose AmigaOS over Linux on objective preferences.

Amiga, though, is a different story, no?

Or did you think this was about something else? heh.
