What's going on with Chris Hodegs, Platon site?
Has he sacked Poseidon off?

@TiredofLife

Short version, looks like Chris has left the Amiga.

Bit longer version if I got it right.
Chris wrote his personal opinion in a readme / FAQ and that was brought up in the news item on amiga news (as well as here) and that resulted in Chris quiting.

That is, if I got it right. My german isn't all that good.

Note to all, keep this clean, no need for namecalling, badmouthing etc etc.

@TiredofLife

Nein me too!

Babelfish however, suggest that this _PAB_ dude is a real pain in the ass, that censorship has sneaked into amiga-news.de, and that Chris now feels so fed-up with all this that "Das war sicher mein letztes Produkt für den Amiga"

Quote:
Has he sacked Poseidon off?

Hopefully he just sacked off the Amiga; Poseidon is too good to die. I mean, it totally stands out in comparison to the USB stacks on whatever platform you look at. All IMHO of course...

To give a short summary:

Originally I published the TLSFMem news-item that Chris had entered using our News-Feed form.

Later it was brought to my attention what has been written by him about someone in the FAQ.

This certain someone - no matter who he is, no matter what the reason for his appearance in the FAQ has been and no matter what I myself do think about him - happens to be a member of our website's team, though.

Thus by this news-item we were promoting a software and its readme file in public which did blatantly insult one of us. At least to me an untenable situation.

Therefore I took the news-item down from the main page of our website and sent an e-mail to Chris requesting his understanding and told him that I'd gladly put it back onto the front page once that the causing sentence in the FAQ would have been removed.

That's all. But looking at recent public statements at other places, e.g. Amiga.org, there seems to have been a displeased feeling about the remaining Amiga community already anyway.

@Senex

Thanks from me as well.

Hmm, not sure what to make of this situation really.
I'm certainly disappointed because it's a good piece of software that I do rely on.
I know Chris had a dispute with Elbox over licensing for Spider USB cards.
I can understand the viewpoint taken at Amiga-news.
Neither issue seems to be enough to make him throw in the towel though.

Seems that the situation has gotten a bit of hand.
Perhaps after a nights sleep and the chance to reflect, Chris may reconsider.

I don't suppose it possible to really know what's going on in his mind unless he decides to tell.
Perhaps something more will appear on his site in due course.

@takemehomegrandma

So what is this? Everyone clears their homepages for the MorphOS 2.0 release?

What's this all about anyway? Surely a person complaining about a program or
alike shouldn't have this effect? I mean leaving the Amiga "market"...

@Samwel

Post #6 by Senex is accurate.

Amiga.org thread describes everything that happened after the fact as a joke.
(a pretty poor one, considering the results)

How can we be sure that Amiga developers are not being kidnapped and forced to work on Amiga OS 5 ?.

@TiredofLife

Hello

I was just about to upgrade to the latest version (v3.8 r2) when platon42
closed down his homepage.

Anybody have a copy of the latest archive to share?

I wouldn't mind a notice that the home page will be closed in x days,
so there's a fair chance to download the stuff one wants...

Thanks
Kotler

@Kotler

If you have a newer version of Poseidon, just open the Trident Prefs and it will allow you to download the upgrade. I did it just now after reading this thread and was able to get the 3.8 upgrade.

First we'd have to establish wether or not Amiga OS5 was in fact being worked on.
