Easy !
Just run the installer !
After that, copy the .device file for your NIC to DEVS:NetInterfaces (guess you need the cnet.device for the A1200 ???) and open it up to edit it, since you got dynamic IP you should set DHCP here ...
Now you only have to open up two files :
1.) DEVS:Internet/routes
There you can insert your router/gateway so the computer find it's way ...
2.) DEVS:Internet/name_resolution
Here you have to enter a DNS Server from your provider, if you don't know it, just enter the IP of your router or use a free DNS Server like 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS)
Now -> RESET -> done

Hi i do thank you for trying to enlighten me ,but although i have learned quite a lot about the Amiga my knowledge of such things is very basic about the level of a monkey and that would probally be an insult to the creature ,your heading of Easy is therefore a little above my grade and if you could expand on what you have wrote as if talking to an idiot i would be truly grateful ,very best wishes Brian.Quote:

Ok, I'll try, but I'm not very good at this
So, you need to have the device for your network card in DEVS: (for example cnet.device if you use a PCMCIA NIC on your A1200)
Now you need to unpack Roadshow and run the Install Script.
After this is finished, go to Workbench:Storage/NetInterfaces and copy the file CNet to DEVS:NetInterfaces
Now open it up in Notepad or whatever you like and edit it for your needs (since it's allready configured for DHCP you may leave it that way) !
Now open up the file DEVS:Internet/routes and enter your router IP as default !
Now open up the file DEVS:Internet/name_resolution and also enter your routers IP as nameserver
Make a reset and you should be done ! |
