Hi to everybody,

I've just discovered that the IM+ for iPhone web application, that allows to use a web based Skype client, works perfectly on OWB 3.1. This allows to have a functional Skype client on our beloved Operating System.

The web application can be found at: http://s4iphone.com/login.jsp

I still have to test the call functionality (since I don't have a microphone attached to my Sam) but the chat functionality is working perfectly.

This is another example of an useful web application running on our system thanks to OWB (also the Google Office Suite is working well).

Thanks,

Nicola

If I had Skypout on both accounts I would try calling my self. LOL

Would be intersting to hear if http://www.meebo.com/ works.

Also, if orb.com works. You have to have a PC to install orb software on then you can login from any computer, phone, etc. Been using this on AmigaOS3.9 to share pics and MP3s accross the house. Can't do movies with it on OS3.9 though as there are no video streaming apps for it that I know of. Works good on my phone though.

@mordock

Very nice find! I have tested it, unfortunately it has some strong limitations:

- the service itself is a trial for 10 days, after that you need to subscribe with a monthly fee;
- you can chat to Skype contacts, but you cannot make direct free calls to them, you can only give a phone number and make a callback to that number, so you don't use any microphone on the A1/Sam at all. This requires SkypeOut credit, which is an additional fee to the one mentioned above.

So, it's not really like a real Skype for AmigaOS...

Yeah, but www.meebo.com reportedly works so you can just log into Google Talk from there. As well, as MSN, ICQ, AOL, Yahoo, etc etc.

This is great news. With Google Docs working the Amiga gets indirect support for the most commom used document formats, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Any one tried if any of the virtual desktops / webOS out there are working (web based interface) like online_os, eyeOS , G.h.o.s.t or others?
Most of these have their own office programs and webbrowsers that runs via the web interface.

Maybe we should tell that to Google. They could be interesting in promoting the Amiga

From: Burbank, CA. ....... Here every day

Can someone try http://www.pixlr.com/app/ ? http://Photoshop.com was down.

Browsing a Tversity media server could be very cool app and a reason to drop $$$s on a Sam440 instead of a x86 Quad core PC for me. Plus a screen shot could get the Amiga some visibility on their site.

This is a very interesting thread to me, I never thought about how 'Cloud computing' will affect Amiga OS4. This is why a modern browser will be the first Killer App on OS4. Seems like we are getting close with OWB.

Suprised and kinda disappointed the Friedens/Hyperion haven't released something. I wonder what they are working on ... ?
