With the new version of StormC5ED for Amiga OS4 I want to know if someone has bought this new editor for PPC and its advantages or no, because the price for the editor is any expensive, more info in the web site of Alinea:

@Templario

I've been using it for a few months and not had a problem, it's rock solid and fast. This version has never locked up or crashed. It just does it's job. What more do you need?

As for the price, yes, it is a little high but these guys are the only suppliers of the old H&P products and one of the very few producing tools and utilities instead of games. They need our support.

Getting StormC5 updated to OS4 will make porting the H&P programs far easier as I suspect thats what they were written with in the first place.

Personally I hope they've got their grubby little mits on AmigaWriter and can get that updated. At least enough to make it use OS4 font rendering and a native version as the wos version doesn't work on the higher machines.

@Templario

- MorphOS Hardware section?
- I don't think that 29,95 € for the download version is *that* expensive.

@Templario

What's wrong with Scribble for MorphOS? I think that's a pretty decent editor and it's part of the free and official SDK. And since you work with Hollywood I think you should have Cubic/GoldEd anyay - the Hollywood plugin for Cubic is brilliant.
IMHO the StormC4 editor was okay, but Scribble and Cubic are both by far better (dunno though how much the StormC5 editor is improved over the C4 one).

@Zylesea
My question is because I need Amiga source code from MorphOS, AmigaOS4 etc., because I like to program in Hollywood and I use the editor of Windows version, but for my programming skills and time a need more examples, and I though damned! this editor has source code for examples, just that I need to make good software for Amiga, because the examples in Hollywood are fews and my free time to make software too.

@Yssing

Yes, but when you add 35 of this editor, xxx money of x game, add xx money of other program, xx money of xx hardware, the result are hundreds of euros spents and always the same people pays the very fans of this hobby the Amiga, because there are many "Amiga fans" than spend little money and more when there are the abandoware...

Wow! Thanks for making this information available. A new programming editor available for Amiga OS4 in 2013! That is awesome! I have already purchased GoldED in the past, but will seriously consider purchasing the StormC5 editor when I have the money available!
It looks good in the photos.

Yes, the editor has a good look, but my problem is that my C skills, after of years and years no programming are very very of rookie and I need a good tutorial or examples to use my Sams.

@Templario

This seems amazing, an OS4 native version of an updated StormC editor?

Be good if they created the whole IDE again for OS4. V4 used GCC IIRC.

@thread

i'm thrilled. i've already placed the order for the download version, but a link hasn't been sent yet. hopefully i'll be able to report how i find it once alinea send it to me. i've been using codebench for some time, but i'm looking forward to the rebirth of stormC nonetheless.

by the way, why is this in a MOS forum?

@Templario

well things usually cost money, no matter what system.
some developers Open Source their programs, games and what not, which is fine, but time is money.

@Templario

I really think you're best off with CubicIDE. The Hollywood plugin is pretty neat:syntax highlighting, help, project creation, start sompiler directly. 1st choice for Hollywood programmers IMHO (at least I use it for my Hollywood programming).

For more info about CubicIDE+Hollywood: http://hw4cubic.amiga-resistance.info/
