I am using a 450W PSU for my Sam460. |
Yeah, but not all PSUs are created equal, not even during the same production run. |

Agreed, it seems obvious the OS4 implementation of USB 2 is very flawed, but they're just reinventing the wheel, why not use the superior and finished Posedion?
|
I think because when os4 devs starting to write their own usb2 implementation, posedeon wasn't open sourced (if i remember right, it opens only after aros devs and users fill the 4000 euro bounty). But as a lot of work already was put to the sirion, then its pretty understanable that now they want to use (and to finish) it. And to not keep all that work to trash, and to have rights on what the want to do with it, and because its all already "almost works", bug-fixing leaves and co.
Posedeon imho was good idea 5 years ago or so, but today that make no big differences imho to worry with posedeon, or bug fix sirion.Last edited by kas1e on 02-Mar-2012 at 02:18 PM.

I don't use onboard, I have a USB 2 PCI card, but the machine crashes with ehci enabled. |

Sorry to go off Sam topic again, but have you followed the advice as to slots used here ?

I can confirm about the differences between PCI slots in an A1XE when trying to use a PCI USB card. |

Yes, it's terrific. These are exactly the mouse and keyboard I use with my SAM - and as I already mentioned in post #133 - never ever had any freeze, drop-out or whatever with it, no kicklayout stunts, nothing. This is why I assume there might be hw deviations that might not be handled perfectly by the sw...but these are only assumptions..._________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000 |

Maybe since Max has posted about variance in operation dependent on power supplies, you could list the power supply you're using.

Yep, I would mark this as "sw independend hw deviaton"... (has nothing to do with the motherboard per se, of course...). _________________ X1000|II/G4|440ep|2000/060|2000/040|1000 |

| @cha05e90 & Spectre660
ok. Both of you seem to have Sam440ep, judging by your posts/sigs.
I'll just repost what Max posted regarding one difference and his statement about the 460ex specifically, so people can follow.
Quote:
On the Sam440ep there are actually two USB controllers, a USB2 controller on PCI, and a USB 1.1 controller onchip, while on the Sam460ex there is only a USB2 controller onchip.
Most of the USB related problem on Sam460ex boards are due a not good enough PSU, the board drain very low power and not all PSU can supply a stable voltage with such a little load. If you happen to have another PSU, please try with it, or in alternative, attach some more load to the PSU, such as another HD or similar device. |
Perhaps Amigakit can confirm or add something, since I now see them listing complete systems, which are undoubtedly tested.
btw-this is highly reminiscent of the Micro for those that were around late 2004 to early 2005.
HJF quote: Quote:
Also, with the MicroA1 we have found out that a LOT of issues come from the power supply, |
Very sensitive under low load.

And it can be solved by using more power ?? Or changing the PSU ?Never heard of that before.... |
Switching PSUs require a minimum current draw to even start. If your system does draw enough current to start, it could still be to low to provide a stable voltage output. It has nothing to do with the wattage rating or max current draw. Some PSUs will list minimum current requirements, some don't. All it takes is one of the supply outputs to be under loaded to cause a problem. This is not confined to Amiga h/w, this is a problem with any low powered boards.
Best bet is for other SAM460 owners to list the brand & model number of their PSU if their system is working & stable._________________ Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

Seriosly.... Since Acube sells AmigaOne 500 in 45 euro case/PSU combo asking this is like asking if one wiped with Amiga compatible toilet paper... |

| @Metalheart If your Dutch mountains are not too far from Antwerp, you should come to the Belgian Amiga Club's next meeting. My Sam460ex is very stable and we could try/check what's going on with yours.
Otherwise the nearest place for all the AmigaOS 4.x related problems are Hyperion Forums. _________________ A1200PPC / Sam440ep / Sam460ex / X1000 / X5000 OS4.1 |

Maybe ACube tested their PSU to be sure they are fully working with Sam460.. _________________ A1200PPC / Sam440ep / Sam460ex / X1000 / X5000 OS4.1 |
