I wouldn't risk to think about anything other than step 1.

You could still be right.

The official release of Amiga OS 6 will run in the brain of a hampster. In fact that was the mystery device that OS 4 was running on. I will take till OS 6 though to stop wasting brain cycles by stuffing it's cheek storage devices full of sunflower seeds and running on the wheel thing. |

My prediction is that Amiga OS community only shrinks from this point onwards. _________________ AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. And they'd go faster.-- D.Haynie |

From this point onwards? It has been shrinking for more than 10 years already...

Well, I know I've not been in the Amiga community for several years and just recently came back. So it could be as with most things in life. People come and people go. As long as there is a base to support something it will stay around. An example of that would be you can buy new hardware for old Atari 400/800 series of computers. You can get new software for just about any of the old computer systems.
Obviously Hyperion and the many different hardware vendors wouldn't be doing what they are doing if there was not a perceived way to make money from this. As I've said before I know I'll be buying 2 copies of the new OS (as long as I can run OS4 on my PPC A4000D) and I will buy new hardware from whoever it is that sells it.
I wonder if there is a way to get a poll, website, etc... going similar to the PPC website that tracks the number of Amiga users/potential buyers. It would need to encompass more than just AmigaWorld.net and word would need to get out over the Internet for people to get to the poll, website, etc... Maybe get the link to it on all the major Amiga websites. Amiga.org, AmigaWorld.net, Amiga.com, etc...
Someone is out there buying up Amiga hardware as fast as it can be listed on Ebay and while I know some people own several Amigas I don't see how that can account for all the hardware sales I've seen just in the past 2 months since I've been looking. I think Boogiegail alone has sold over 20 Amiga computers this past month. _________________ A4000D A1000 A500 A2000 A1200 |

Hi d0c,
If we can get HW made, at a low cost, released by May this year, 10,000 Amigas by Dec. 2007.
50,000 in 2008, IF it's in an Amiga Fantasy case, and $700 USD tops. This would have to be 2.0 GHz or faster, AND probably a 64 bit OS. I wonder if ibum will ever make the CPUs we need?
You know, $100 2.0 GHz G5s when intel is making $100 64 bit 3.7 GHz 686s.
AOS 4.5 Oct. 2006. AOS 5.0, 64 bit, on, or before May 2007. Cell AOS 5.x, spring/summer 2007.
When a major company finally notices Amiga, and puts it in an Amiga Fantasy case (where it belongs), it could hit 1 million in the same year.
Scoff at this? Look at C=64! |

this crazy, someone banned helgis for 85days ? he's currently banned?
what could he have done to receive such punishment? i'm not aware, but i'm almost sure it's abusive usage of moderator's priviledges.
if this is the case, this suck big time.
