| For Cyberstorm PPC it seems an amount of 128MB RAM will be recommended. That propably goes for Blizzard PPC too.
Anyone out there who can give more info about minimum and recommended specifications for OS4 on the CyberstormPPC and BlizzardPPC accelerators for the classic line of Amigas?
Mod's update: This is no longer ''potential'' since it is now a reality and exists.

| Maker: ACube Systems Srl a jointcompany formed by Alternative Holding Group, Soft 3 and Virtual Works. (link updated)
Board: Samantha/Sam440 Website: http://www.sam440.com/
A press release dated September 17 2008 tells that an OEM version of AmigaOS 4.1 will be sold together with SAM440.
A good source of detailed information about their planned product can be found here and here.
Here you will find a Question and Answer session undertaken in conjunction with Amiga Round Table and Amigaweb. Scroll down past the specifications to find the Q&As.
Of all the proposed OS4 capable new hardware this one is head and shoulder ahead of the rest in development and potential license from Amiga Inc, Bill McEwan mentioned them directly as "partners they were working together with".
Sam440ep is the first modular motherboard produced by ACube Systems Srl.
The main characteristics are:
* low power consumption * passive cooling * scalability
The core of the board is the PowerPC 440EP, a System On Chip (SoC) produced by AMCC under license from IBM.
One of the main features of the PowerPC AMCC 440EP is the presence, together with the CPU, of a number of integrated peripherals. This allowed us to build a complete system with a huge savings of both development and debug time, with less components and space used on the PCB. This also results in a significant cost reduction for the customer.
As a consequence the northbridge/southbridge combination is not present on the board. Part of their functionalities are built into the CPU.
The 440EP chip has a size of 35x35 mm, with a PBGA packaging (456 balls). It is built with CMOS (0.13 um) technology, has a very low power consumption (only 3 Watts at 533Mhz) and it does not require any active cooling system.
Technical Specifications
* MiniITX Form Factor (17x17 cm) * CPU SoC AMCC 440ep o Integrated DDR 266 memory controller o Integrated PCI controller o Integrated Flash memory devices controller o Integrated USB 1.1 Host and 2.0 Device controller o 2 integrated Ethernet 10/100 ports o Up to 4 serial ports o 2 I2C interfaces o SPI interfaces o 64 pin for I/O General Purpose * 512 MB DDR soldered onboard (or in alternative a DDR DIMM 100 slot, max 512 MB) * USB 2.0 OHCI/EHCI NXP PCI controller * Audio Cirrus Logic CS4281 and Realtek ALC655 Codec * Silicon Image 4 Serial ATA ports * ATI RADEON Mobility M9 with 64mb RAM graphic chip * Pericom 8150B PCI Bridge * FPGA Lattice XP with 80 pin I/O expansion connector * PCI Slot - 32 bits, 33 Mhz * mini PCI Slot - 32 bits, 33 Mhz (optional) * RTC with backup battery * UBoot 1.3.1

| Hardware from Genesi/Bplan, suitable for OS4
No official license for OS4
##: Maker: Genesi/b-plan Board: Efika 5200B Website: http://www.pegasosppc.com/efika.php
The Efika is a very small motherboard with somewhat limited specs and expandability. However, its Bill of Materials is very low, hence it can be manufactured *very* cheap and sold at an attractive price if some volume can be reached. It runs passively cooled, and consumes only a few Watts. It could easily be used as a building block for various embedded devices as it is, including portable and battery powered ones. It has a PCI-slot that can be turned into an AGP slot (1x speed) by the use of an 90° AGP riser slot. One cool case-option for this computer would be to fit a complete Efika system, including the motherboard, a 2.5" harddrive and a low profile graphics card, in a box with a size and shape of a regular 5.25" CD-ROM and put it (or several!) in a regular tower case. Or why not in a case like this?
The Efika board has the following specifications:
* Freescale MPC5200B PowerPC SoC up to 400MHz * 118mm x 153mm x 38mm * 128MB 266MHz DDR RAM * 44-pin IDE connector * 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet * 2x USB ports * 1x RS232 Serial port * Stereo Audio out, Microphone and Line-input * 33/66MHz PCI with optional 90° AGP riser slot * RoHS Compliant
Example product solutions include:
* Thin-Client for X or Windows Terminal Server (rdesktop) displays * Home Theater satellite, to relay recorded or downloaded TV shows and movies around the home * High power-use/performance-ratio cluster node * Industrial control and robotics * VOIP/Video Phone connected to a TV * Webcam Security solution
By utilising CHRP-compliant IEEE 1275 Firmware, a variety of Operating Systems are available for the platform and in particular Genesi offers the following Power Developer Support Site. More information on Operating Systems available for the EFIKA 5200B can be found here.
This product is about to ship, and can be ordered from the Genesi online store. If you *hurry*, you may still be able to get one for free if you have an idea of a development project and submit it here.
"Please note! Unlike the other hardware listed above, Genesi is planning on forcing Amiga Inc. via a federally upheld contract to put OS4 on the Efika."
#7: Maker: Genesi/b-plan Board: Pegasos 8641D Website: http://www.powerdeveloper.org/8641d.php
The Pegasos 8641D is a motherboard built around the Freescale MPC8641D processor. This CPU is a dual-core CPU, with two high-performance superscalar e600 cores (similar as the 7448 CPU) running at up to 1.5 GHz. Each core has its own memory controller (DDR2 up to 600MHz), its own 1MB L2 cache, and its own Altivec engine. The CPU chip itself also incorporates dual 8-lane PCI Express ports, as well as 4 Gigabit Ethernet controllers. The CPU also comes in a single-core version.
The developer project is about to start, and the website where interested software developers can apply for a free developer board are already up and running. You can also buy one at the Genesi online store (delivery in 6-8 weeks).
Please note that the hardware in the 8641D developer program is not the "Pegasos 8641D" motherboard, but Freescale's PCEVALHPCN-8641D reference design ("Argo Navis"). The final Pegasos 8641D consumer design will be designed around this reference product (similar specs) and enhanced by the developer support and early adopter work through the Projects Program. Pegasos 8641D drawing
The specs of the "Argo Navis"/Pegasos 8641D:
MPC8641D Dual-Core Processor rev 2.0 brings: * e600 cores with 1MB L2 cache * 600MHz internal bus speed * DDR2 memory controller * 4x Gigabit Ethernet ports * 8x and 4x PCI Express slots
ULi M1575 Southbridge brings: * 4x Serial ATA (3.0Gbps) * 1x Parallel ATA * 4x USB 2.0 ports * 2x PCI slots (5V tolerant) * AC97 Audio * PS/2 keyboard & mouse

| - The Shark from Elbox. Elbox says it will be available when OS4 final is done.
License?
Additional info from Dandy:
Various postings in several Amiga fora around the globe suggest that one reason for the Shark's unavailability could simply be that the "Shark" is nothing else than a "Crescendo" from Sonnet and that the Sonnets are unavailable (sold out) since last December.
But since a few weeks it is listed again as available on Sonnet's website - and it seems to be a new and reworked version (higher clockspeed):
Sonnet "Crescendo"
Update: 19/09/08 - Or a Natami + Crescendo ? (See this thread on the Natami forum.) Last edited by Yo on 19-Sep-2008 at 07:48 PM. Last edited by tomazkid on 14-Aug-2008 at 11:32 AM. Last edited by tomazkid on 14-Aug-2008 at 11:31 AM.

| - Sony PS3
Not a porting option.
Quote from Rogue: Quote:
It's not that I mind getting a PS 3 (I have been a fan of Gran Turismo ever since part one) but please bear in mind that there is not going to be any change in Hyperion's plans because of this. When I said "I would like to port OS 4 to the thing", I meant this purely for testing reasons. I do not see a PS 3 version of AmigaOS 4.x in the foreseeable future. I already said it is not my decision, and it isn't me the needs convincing but rather the Hyperion management, and I am very sure they won't consider it for the reasons I have stated in the past - I do not think that Sony will lift the restrictions for guest OS'es on the PS 3 for any project, so I am still quite convinced that this would be rather sluggish to use.
So please, if you really want to do this, know that apart from playing Gran Turismo, it is very likely that nothing comes out of this. I might or might not find the time to experiment with porting AmigaOS to it (pretty unlikely seeing how much work there still is), but it will not change the facts that Hyperion management have already rejected the idea of a PS 3 port. |

There is no OS4 for MacMini, what was leaked was an early beta of a now defunct project. If you are in possession of this CD, be aware of the fact that this is a pirated copy and that possession is illegal. |
Taken from this thread.
The files are illegal, and not for the public. No one has rights to own them, because they have never been on sale.

I have pointed out multiple times there will be no Mac port, period. Live with it, I don't care. That is all I am going to say about the topic. |
