How about a SAM440 + OS4.1 combo? Do you have a page for that yet?

Will you be able to afford to pass on a price break in a bundling of Sam+case+OS4.1 ? _________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

Yes I would also be interested in the combination when you start taking orders.
I would also be interested in a case for my minimig ACube's other amiga motherboard if you have any plans to stock one.

AOS4.1: required radeon 9250.
and with the M9 on SAM, better or worse than a 9250 ???

Its better than the onboard uA1 graphics apparently... plus it has 64mb not 32mb...
Wonder if that would allow 1680x1050 *with* compositing?

A 9250 is recommended not requierd. Hardware compositing (not OS4.1 itself) requiers a Radeon 1xx/2xx. The M9 is a Radeon 250 chip. |

You can already run 1680x1050 on a microA1 using onboard graphics with compositing turned on.
32MB is enough for that. The issue is MULTIPLE screens where you begin to notice some slowdown because of the limited graphics memory.
In terms of speed with transparency it is fine on the 7000. Limited graphics mem is the only drawback.
The Sam 440 on-board graphics doubles the memory vs. the Micro, so it should be fine to run at least two 1680x1050 screens with compositing turned on and no slowdown. I don't know the exact memory requirements per screen at any given colour depth, but I am sure Hyperion does.
Also take into account the overall architecture of the Sam is more modern than the micro. As Rigo pointed out in another thread, his Sam is faster than his micro with OS 4.1.
Ok, from a pure CPU standpoint, the 750FX or GX is probably faster than Sam's CPU core, but the overall system design is a huge factor, too.

Will this combo be Sam440ep motherboard only, or a complete system with keyboard, mouse etc?

It would be great to have a page that clearly defines the various hardware combo's and their price breaks... what I would like to see on the site is:
1] A choice of SAM + OS4 + Hardware combo's for various setups - all technical specs displayed and the ability to compare each set-up combo in a table, together with pricing
* choice of cases/colours too - pizza box style maybe if available...
2] The ability to build your own SAM set-up, permitting choices for various supported hardware / extra's etc
3] A clear understanding of what 3rd party add ons are supported and what drivers work with that hardware... in some cases there may be hacks involved, or drivers that don't permit "full" function (i.e. restricted function, if at all)
...when and if Natamis is released, it would be great to see too how the various system can be configured for Power Users and Standard Users.
I see for Minimig and Classic Amiga's you have hardware combo's of choice through dynamic selection boxes, I guess you could do something similar for SAM?
Maybe, to keep combo's simple and cost effective (at the various price points), you could create two distinct versions of the Sam, for power users, and a combo for standard users (or starter system) - to get people onboard as cheaply as possible.
For Power Users, I guess they would be interested in a combo choice that maxes out the technicals to the limit, this would interesting to see exactly how much a SAM could be expanded too...
Some ideas!

Any further with a SAM OS4.1 bundle?
I'm a bit keen to get this sorted as soon as possible as you have probably guessed. Last edited by TiredofLife on 18-Sep-2008 at 09:25 AM.

Will the 533 Mhz cpu, 512 MB DDR Ram, ATI Radeon M9 64Mb and Audio 5.1 onboard version (332 Euro) version of the Sam be available from your store?

Do you mean the Sam440ep or the Flex?
And it's true color24/32 bit or high color 16 bit depth?
