Hi all I'm here to ask if is is possible to install a pci card that have an onboard pci bridge on a microA1, I'm planning to upgrade my micro with a combo card containing a Sata controller and a USB2.

The chips used are supported only in the sata (sil3112) part but I've heard that usb2 support is coming and I'd like to have it on my micro but I'm not sure if it will be possible to use it as a boot device.

Anyone has experience in a case like this ?

I was looking for one of these cards:

http://www.siig.com/ViewProduct.aspx?pn=SC-UNS012

or maybe:

http://www.icintracom.biz/default.asp?pid=1937&catid=142

Thanks in advance

@Murasame

I have a card like the first one in my XE. It has IDE ports instead of SATA ports but besides the same layout.

It works in the AmigaOne-XE but not in the micro. No idea why.

@PulsatingQuasar

It's similar to this one http://www.siig.com/ViewProduct.aspx?pn=JU-NNBR11 ?

You use it for booting or it works only after the os is loaded ?

Strange that it doesn't work in the micro it's the same components except for the audio part maybe it's something related to uboot.

@PulsatingQuasar

Try to disable interrupts.

I think the Micro has a slightly different interrupt routing than the XE, so that interrupts are set up the wrong way. I'll try to fix that in the next U-Boot update.

I would also like to buy a combocard. But have to wait to see what is supported. Booting from SATA, use of USB2.0 would be nice :D

@Murasame

Yep, that one.

I have 2 AmigaOne-XE systems now and 1 microA1. The 2 XE systems both have that card and work fully. I use the USB ports for my USB sticks and external harddrives and the Sil0680 controller on that card for my internal harddrives. It works great.

On the micro the harddisks are seen, Kickstart loads from the harddrive connected to that card and then.................nothing. Early startup doesn't show any drives.

@Rogue

Thanks for the tip so you think I can go buying one and feel confident that will work ?
Or you think it's better to wait a fix in uboot ( ) ?

@PulsatingQuasar

@Murasame

I would wait for the updated U-Boot. As I said, I'll try to fix it. Unfortunately there is no MAI anymore whom I could ask for the correct interrupt routing, so it will be mostly a trial-and-error process.

@Rogue

Since I'm a beta tester I can also test it if you think you have found something that might have fixed it.

I have that 3 device combo card with the SATA controller also so I can test both.

Does this apply to both factory and "fixed" XE boards, or just one or the other?

@Rogue

Years ago I got one of those combo ones (raid/usb/firewire/ata133), its has been sitting in its box for years, couldn't get it working with linux. Now that I don't actually care about linux anymore I guess I should give it a try again, if I can get to the box at least :)
