| Hi there,
Dnetc on Sam460 says: Automatic processor type detection did not recognize the processor (tag: "OS4:0x13")
What about an update? _________________ Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci Sam460 1.10 Ghz AmigaOS 4 betatester Amiga Translator Organisation |

Benchmark software? Last one I see is http.distributed.net/pub/dcti/current-client/dnetc-amigaos-ppc.lha
Here are Pegasos results http://www.ann.lu/detail.cgi?category=forum&file=1063036657.msg
I`don`t know much about it, but it seems Amiga is NOT officialy supported http://http.distributed.net/pub/dcti/
So, someone would need probably to compile the last version and see how this new old CPU (EP460) could be detected.
Usual type of problems, since EP460 is out, wait for next versions of everythings!
P.S. You lucky boy! You have fastest Amiga now on the table! _________________ OS 3.x AROS and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionalism. Learn it harder way! SinclairQL and WII U lover :D YT http://www.youtube.com/user/rasvoja |

What about if you report it to the correct place - i.e. the d.net bugzilla? Lucky for you I saw your message .
If you can provide the output of "dnetc -bench", I'll make sure the fastest RC5-72 core for the 460EX is automatically selected (KKS 2pipes at a guess). Of course, there is only one OGR core that will work on the 460EX anyway. BTW, it's no big deal about not being able to recognise the processor - of course, it knows it is a PPC which is good enough generally .
The AmigaOS clients have not been updated in a while because there was no real reason to - no bugs and no new developments at distributed.net. Also, it's a bit of a chore updating the OS4 client because OS4 still does not have a CVS client that supports SSH2 tunnelling, hence I have to boot up my cranky old A1200T to manage the source code . _________________ IBrowse, AmiSSL and Warp Datatype Developer |

Doesn't matter either way because the latest released version was built before the 460EX CPU id tag was added to the exec includes, which is why it isn't auto-detected. _________________ IBrowse, AmiSSL and Warp Datatype Developer |

Ah ok, good anyway that it knows it's a PPC and is crunching _________________ AmigaOS 4.1 FEu2 on Sam440ep-flex 800MHz 1GB RAM C128, A500+, A1200, A1200/40, AmigaForever 2008+09+16, 5 x86/x64 boxes Still waiting (or dreaming) for the Amiga revolution... m4rko.com/AMIGA |

Writing a "CVS client that supports SSH2 tunnelling" sounds like a challenge

What keyrate are you seeing? Any idea how this compares to the 440?
Thanks |

Cool, here it is below. My board is a prototype and runs at 1 Ghz instead of 1.166 like the released version. I hope this doesn't change anything.

Looks like +50% boost to EP440 677Mhz and about the G4 speed However, PCI-E and DDR2 make it fastest Amiga at the moment I suppose _________________ OS 3.x AROS and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionalism. Thanks very much for that - did you notice that I guessed the fastest RC5-72 correctly?
The good news is that I've built an updated client for OS4, and it went without a hitch and is running fine here - I had hoped to switch the client to use newlib, but that plan will have to go on hold until I can adapt the source to work with it. Will try to get a release out this week sometime - need to do the builds for OS3/WOS/PUP too. _________________ IBrowse, AmiSSL and Warp Datatype Developer |

Yes but it's like the 440 so there's no magic here
Ok, thanks.Last edited by elwood on 13-Dec-2010 at 12:58 PM.

From the top of my head, that looks a bit faster than my XE/G4-933. Does the 460 have Altivec? _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

The 460 doesn't have Altivec, no. If you're just comparing the scalar cores, the benchmark speeds are probably pretty similar between the Sam460 and your A1XE. However, those speeds come nowhere near that of the Altivec cores can do on an A1XE. _________________ IBrowse, AmiSSL and Warp Datatype Developer |

Thanks for the numbers. Elwood is showing 10,124,948 nodes/sec.
For comparison my PIII 1Ghz PC overclocked to 1.1xGhz gets around 12M nodes/sec.
Looks like a 1.16Ghz SAM should be equivalent.
