I hope this goes for all Sam owners, but the recent updates by ACube have totally removed all slight glitches and audio timing issues from my system..actually there were only a few DVD's that had this issue before but now they are completely ok...thanks ACube

unfortunately i cannot say the same with my SAM440ep-flex running at 667MHz. there is still some frame-dropping here and there on most DVDs. it's not bad, but it is noticeable when there are large fields of movement in frame.

but i can say that video performance overall has improved. not hugely, but, again, noticeably. i would recommend the update to everyone with 667MHz/800MHz boards. i'll add my thanks to acube for the updates. most appreciated, guys!

@samo79

Might be useful to indicate the model of DVD drive you use and problem Dvds just in case there are issues.

@all

Try to copy a part of the movie on the HD and you will surely see better framerate.

Here the movie is more smooth from the HD than from the DVD drive.

The drive have an IDE to SATA converter and maybe It's the problem.

I'm interested to have feedback about that ? (someone with a SAM667 with good DVD playing from his DVD drive).

Just curious, where did you get DVPlayer 0.72 demo?

I've registered 0.65 and have been waiting for some time now for an update, please tell me there's one coming.

@1Mouse

Dvplayer 0.72demo and same example:

ARCHIVES:VTS_04_1.VOB
Video: MPEG, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Audio: 1C0 [MPG] 16-bit 48000 Hz, Stereo
Total Nr of Frames: 3462
Nr of Frames played: 3441
Nr of Frames skipped: 21 (1%)
Total Playback Time: 115.505 seconds
Average Framerate: 29.973 fps
Displayed Framerate: 29.791 fps

1% skipped for the same example as my previous post.

For sure, the DVD tested part isn't full of action and surely DVplayer need at least 10% speed improvement to be smooth on SAM667.

NOTE to myself: my DVD-drive is good for playback

with the acube's updates there was a boost on dvd performance but there is still a little glitch, i wanna see if there is some difference saying a movie from hd

@samo79

this is not sure.

Your test is made with different video size and fps (25 fps) and your output seemed different than our tests.

Maybe with this kind of video you have tested, the playback is worse. Try to make a test with a real DVD.
