I was just curious how many people have classic Amigas with ppc accelerators and are actually using them. Their must be a fair number of you otherwise I don't think Hyperion would be bothering with OS4.1 for classics. I remember back in the day when ppc accelerators were affordable and plentiful from Software Hut and I just didn't see the advantage of one of them over my 060 accelerator. Now they are so scarce that if you do find a used one for sale you better be ready to pay the price of a nice laptop.
I was also wondering how does a ppc accelerated classic Amiga perform against say a SamFlex?

Actually Bill there was a period when Software Hut had a large stock of them and it seemed they were going to continue having plenty of them and they were selling them at a pretty good price. At that time I actually purchased a towered A1200 from them with ppc and bvision for my Mom which she ended up not wanting because it didn't have ethernet so I just sold on fleabay. Sure wish I'd kept it.

They were too pricey for me. I'd have loved to have had a go on Candy Factory and Wipeout 2097 back in the day but couldn't warrant the outlay above and beyond a standard Cyberstorm 060.

I've also been wondering about that.

I have an A1200 with BPPC 060/50+603e/240+BVision but it ended up in the basement shortly after OS4-pre2 came out. There was simply no point in running it anymore when I had an AmigaOne with OS4 - the successor of Classic+PPC OS3.x.

I actually used to have a BPPC LC040/25+603e/160 first but it was so extremely slow I felt that I had to upgrade. The 060/50 is 4 times faster than 040/25 and the FPU (no LC type) made things easier too.

I have a BlizzardPPC 060/200 here with SCSI, 256MB of fast RAM and A copy of OS4 for my classic as well.

I don't really use OS4 on it as my main system disk is SCSI (not supported) and I have changed over from using my old BVision graphics card to using a Mediator and PCI Graphics and network card with were not well supported by OS4.0 as they had no native drivers.

Between adding support for Mediators Bus boards and adding SATA PCI support it sounds like the main issues holding back the usability of OS4 on my Classic should be fixed with the new release.

if its not too expensive I will purchase a copy and give it another go. As I already own a sam440ep I don't really need it, but Amiga is mainly a hobby for me these day and I get as much fun out of setting up something new as I do from day to day use.
