Ronnie Barker was just hilarious. He'll be sorely missed.

what's up with this formatting?
Hmm, don't have a closing quote tag on the end of a url. Must confuse the parser.Last edited by Karlos on 04-Oct-2005 at 10:37 AM. Last edited by Karlos on 04-Oct-2005 at 10:37 AM.

| Porridge, was the the series in jail? That was great too.
Never watched two ronnies. I knew it but never felt the urge to watch. _________________ A.miga D.emoscene A.rchive |

| Well, with any luck they'll do what they usually do when a legend of Ronnie's stature passes away and repeat his works on TV. _________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |

So it's goodnight from him then ! The last Rasberry from the Phantom Rasberry Blower has been blown.
A great comedic genius, from the times when you did not have to use bad language to get a laugh.

Yes, a shame. He was indeed a great comedian.
He wasn't exactly "slim Jim" though, did that have anything to do with his decline? _________________ SEX SUX

Yup Just saw Porridge, also starring the late Richard Beckinsale, very talented actor died in his prime at 34.
Porridge was excellent, As was open all hours as well. Wasn't a big fan of the Two Ronnies (Prefered Morecambe and Wise) But their Fork 'Andles sketch is legendary. Got it in entirety on my MicroA1.
Eric Morecambe, Ernie Wise, Frankie Howard, Tommy Cooper, Benny Hill, Bob Monkhouse, all sadly missed. Today, very few Comedians come close to how funny those men were.

I see.
Did they know what his heart problems were caused by, e.g. smoking?_________________ SEX SUX

Indeed, talent of today seldom matches up to old talent of yesteryear.
Mind you, in the 60s/70s when some of these comedians were in their prime, I reckon people said the same, e.g. "These men don't compare to the Marx brothers!" Or the three stooges.
Sometimes things like comedy only get better with age. It's hard to spot things of today that will go down in history as classic._________________ SEX SUX

There are exeptions of course. I thought Russ Abbot was funny when I was seven or eight.

Imagine Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts trying to do a remake of one of the old 'Thin Man' movies...
"Hey guys!, can you slow down the teleprompter? Like, no way can I read that fast!" "Yeah, me too!"
At least when they finally learned the script, the promoters could honestly say, "Seven years in the making! An epic saga..." |
