First, i apologise for making this topic only to ask this but here's what's happening:

Is it me, or is the Back2roots site down again? Are they gone for good or what? I was hoping to get a old game or two to play in WinUAE from them, since the only site with free/old Amiga games is Ancient Toys and i seem to remember the game i wanted isn't there but on Back2roots. Shame i can't remember the name of the game now. Anyway, i'm sorry for posting this just to ask this question. I hope anyone has an awnser.

By the way, i tried Back2roots with:

Firefox 1.5.0.1
IE 6
AWeb ( latest available )
iBrowse ( latest demo available )

Not one worked. Maybe it's because my connection or is it them... i don't know!
The 'ftp part' of the site seems to be working as usual, but their 'web version' isn't.

Anyone?

@Zontrox

I can't access it either, it went down a few weeks ago too.
Hopefully, fingers crossed, it will be back up soon!

@Zontrox

Nothing to do with your connection. I just tried and the sitet is currently down. I hope it's just temporary !

Does anyone has any contact details of the site owner ?

Jerry

No news about the reason of it being down? It has been down for quite some time now, that i am starting to get worried here.. back2roots is amoung the more important amiga sites in my opinion. No other website has such a big collection of legally downloadable adf games and they also have a pretty big demo and module tracker archive.

@Tomas

for your replies.

I was already starting to think that i was (probably) the only one not being able to access to site. It's weird but i seem to remember that they already had runned out of space for all that software and even more was coming but they couldn't put it there because they have ran out of space. Also that they always had on the site requests for someone to donate or mirror the software to help them. Maybe they went down because of these things, or was it something else?! Anyway, i hope they won't be 'out' for much longer, like Tomas said, they are one of the most important websites around with free and legal Amiga software, games or otherwise.

Here's hoping that they will be back soon!

P.S.: if anyone out there happens to have news about them or when they will be back, then do post them for others to know.

@K0rky

I'm not sure how legal that site is. At least Back2Roots.org had permission from the authors to upload the software to the site.

@Samurai_Crow

Some of their sub-domain are still up...
B2R, please come back !
If you need DiskSpace, Money to maintain the site, or anything else, we can certainly come to an arrangement !

@Jerryuk007

Well, i hope it's nothing serious either. Something with my nerves that keep me from being another person, understand? I hate my neighbours, they keep making noises that most people aren't affected by them but me, everytime i hear something that 'pounds' my right ear, my nerves explode in such a way that yesterday, i screamed sooo loud that i temporarily lost vision from my left eye due to making so much pressure on my head while screaming. And it's not only them but a lot of other things. Anyway, it's something that comes since i was 3/5 years old, also due to my parents fighting in front of me, not having a good childhood, etc, etc...

I'm trying to take care of this matter with trips to my family doctor and others but it's not easy when you also don't have much of a social life, the job i have now sometimes suck big time, no one 'special' (in other word, girlfriend ) and my family, from both sides (mom/dad) sometimes don't give a damn about what i'm going through. I won't bother you people with my problems, since this not a forum for that, right?

Anyway, thanks for your reply Jerryuk007. If someone want's to ask something elseleave a message here or a PM.

Take care people! Thanks again. I hope that i'm not being such a pain in the neck with my problems or something else.

P.S.: by the way, i sincerely hope that Benfica makes a good game tomorrow against Liverpool. We've been playing so badly in the national championship and i have to admit that i have almost no hope of winning against Liverpool. Anyway. as long it's a good game with fair play, that's ok.

Just a small 'update'...

Back2roots is still down.

Their FTP isn't but the website is.

I used the same browsers as i did the last time when i first posted this topic.

Firefox 1.5.0.1
AWeb 3.5.07 Beta
iBrowse 2.3 Demo
Voyager 3.2 ( 3.3.125 )

I also asked a friend of mine to try acessing their site on his Linux system with Firefox, Opera and Konkeror.

@Jerryuk007

Yes It would be a shame to start again, the work that has gone into BTTR to provide
a collection of legal to download amiga releases is huge.

It was only a day or so ago some body entered the #amigaworld IRC.amigaworld.net
looking for some games that he'd played in the past on amiga and was asking for nasty warezy romsy
web pages to get a few games to try out in UAE. And I gave him the address to BTTR and he said it came up unavailable, much concern this came to me so yeah I tried a few diff browsers getting various responses stating there was nothing there. I have got alot out of this page my self nice to have done it legaly. Im sure this site will further interest myself and alot of others if it returns. Im fairly sure it will.

I noticed that the second time i tried to access Back2roots a while ago and was still 'greeted' with a blank/dead page but i thought it was worth trying. You never know.

@Jerryuk007

You could try: info@back2roots.org (official contact address)

This may not be of any help, but Bobic (one of the past maintainers is there).

Then after reading it you can try to reach this Warlock character: warlock@nvg.org

Good luck, mate
