AROS One 2.4 is now available for Download, in this release there have been a lot of changes mainly on the Core now compiled with the C library, this will not change anything for users but it is very important for developers because it facilitates and simplifies porting and compiling software.

AROS One 2.4 has to be installed from scratch because it is no longer compatible with the old Cores and the old software included in the large Contrib archive. Nothing is lost because the same software was included in the new Contrib compiled with the C Library, eventually for those who have their own configurations they could make a backup and manually insert them into the new system.

This is the most Stable version of AROS x86 ever released, so many fixes are related to Wanderer and Hardware compatibility, also the hardware compatibility catalog has been reformulated, HERE you can browse it.
you can browse it.

Thanks to all the developers and all those who contribute financial support.

Tested Myst III Exile on ResidualVM and it runs well in both Window and FullScreen on VM, I tested it in Software and Hardware Mode, VMs do not support native Video Card, but even in Software Mode it is playable, no particular slowdown !

I also tested Myst 3 with ResidualVM on the small "Dell Inspiron Mini 910" with native resolution (Hardware Mode) 640x480 ideal for having a full screen, see screenshot ! it is fast even in software mode !

I managed to install AROS One via the HDToolbox method and InstallAROS managed to copy the AROS files onto DH0:

I'm at GRUB loading, error: no such partition. I'm attempting to solve it. Let's see how far I can go on this.
----
Resolved the GRUB error.

Due to some requests from users and developers I have created a Lite Version of AROS One, this version anticipates the release of AROS One v2.5, which if there will be no news also from Rufus, soon will be distributed the Complete version both in ISO and USB Image format.

This ISO Lite is complete with everything, it includes the new Core with the latest updates and fixes, to make it smaller 419 MB Zipped, 836 MB uncompressed, I removed Development and many third-party software from the Extras folder.

Among the important new features of AROS One 2.5, you'll find the possibility to delete highlighted files and folders with the CANC key, added on GRUB "EarlyStartup" where from the prompt you can just type "uCommander" where from its menu you can directly access Dopus4 or a Text Editor, needed for maintenance when for some reason AROS doesn't boot.

Those who download AROS One Lite and encounter problems or anomalies can report them here

AROS One Lite v2.5: Download

Due to the difficulty encountered by some users, I have recreated a Step-by-Step Video Tutorial showing how to create the Mountlist (DOSDriver SMB2), it is a few simple steps, the procedure is identical on OS3 and OS4, to share Network Drives and Shared Folders from Windows, Linux or other OS with AROS, OS3 and OS4.

Talking about AROS One Sharing with Network Drives and Shared Folders can be done either if AROS One is natively installed on a PC or installed on VMware (it is not supported by VirtualBox and Quemu), one of the reasons why I strongly recommend using VMware as a Virtual Machine.

This is the new Video Tutorial on how SMB2 allows you to share a Network Drive, all the steps to create Mountlist (DOSDrivers), the various ways to mount and unmount and restart a share.

SMB2: Creating, Mounting, Unmounting SMB2

@AMIGASYSTEM

How is ResidualVM related to AROS.

Usually some people are using AROS but in this case you would not use it to run an old DOS(?) game on it, does it run on AROS?

It runs Myst3, maybe that's the point.

I heard VirtualBox from Oracle runs AROS:

VMWare is behaving strange in the last time, I don't know if its still free for private use.

@ppcamiga1

Money and even a lot of it is spent on other OS in the AMiGA family, for AROS you don't need special PCs, what does Windows have to do with it?

With AROS you don't spend even 1 Euro to use it, all the old PCs where you can't install Win10/11 or where they are too slow to use, on AROS they still perform very well, and they are very fast

You don't need to spend any money, just reclicate an old PC where the hardware is supported, at most you'll have to replace a used Video Card or WiFi for a few Euros, or for free if you go to some computer dump!

HERE is a list of all 'fully supported' PCs that you can use without spending a Euro.

There are always PCs around that no longer are supported by Windows.
