Thank you to all who I have interacted with here on Amigaworld, but I now find I can no longer agree with the terms and conditions of this site. It's too strict, and just no fun any more.

I fully intend to continue to support the Amiga Platform, I see my video work coming to an end, which I see as a good thing, so I can get on with the original job of creating much needed software, which is actually what I have been interested in doing all along.
I will keep my website up to date with any developments, hopefully I will get some products released next year.

If anyone in the Amiga Community want to get in touch, my email address can be found on my website.

Thanks again to all.

Goodbye for now
Paul

Rrright... in all cases, the T&C of this site was followed. Nobody would have disputed the decision had I, for example, broken the T&C and got a restriction for some days, yet many do now that some other people did...

Sorry to hear it ... maybe you'll be back one day? It has been a little crazy around here the past week.

@mskov

Threads being deleted, people being silenced, to be honest, if you have not been following the particular topics, you are better off not getting involved. The people affected know who they are.

I will be here answering questions in this thread only until one of the following occurs

(a) midnight tonight
(b) my account is deleted,
(c) this thread gets locked

@mskov

2 threads: morphos vs. amigaos
and toaks got banned for 10 days. Some people disputed the moderation in these cases as being heavy handed. They should just let Wegster moderate all the threads

Crazy? Now I know that I have missed it all!

But then again I never looked at the whole MorphOS vs AmigaOS thread. I've made my mind up and picked Amiga, so it didn't interest me...

@mrhaddy

Toaks was suspended (not banned) for a period of time for continuing with what was considered Off topic and/or flaming, specifically after being asked to stop. This included several people and not just Toaks.

In order to keep this site clean/friendly etc the moderators occasionally have to step in and ask people to leave a particular subject alone, this generally happens when people get worked up about something. In this case Toaks happened to be defending OS4 and went a bit too far (after a moderator asked the thread to calm down).

Subsequently several more people have been banned for disputing a moderators descision on the forums. The appropriate procedures for disputes are clear and present int eh T&C's of the site, with Davey being the ultimate judge/jury etc.

I would point out this thread is also tending towards that questioning, and whilst I personally do not tend to moderate threads/people I will caution you (the participants of this thread generally not you mrhaddy specifically) to stay on topic, and focus on Pauls leaving, giving farewells etc.

Mark

Open discussion about moderators decisions is not allowed on Amigaworld. What they say is final.
You can however complain directly using PM if you disagree with a decision.

What you can not do however is to make a poll to question these regulations.

Other forums are a bit more relaxed concerning these things...

Even though i don't know why these threads are deleted, i must say that i like the hard line amigaworld.net practices. It makes at least one amigasite worth visiting, and one as a guest can be safe knowing threads won't wont turn into something ugly and flamey.

So keep up the tough moderation guys, and lets have one clean amiga site, where people talks nice to each other.

The Amiga needs one place where visitors can feel welcome.....because soon we will have lots of new visitors....hehe

@Hondo_DK

I agree. But I don't see the exact purpose of removing
any thread (and this practice is not defined in the T&P btw,
at least i don't read it).

Bye,
TMTisFree

First thanks for not having closed this thread yet.

When staying on topic and focusing on Palus leaving, people will surely want to talk about why he left. So this should be on topic, right? What should we otherwise talk about in this thread?

Just would like to know for not being suspended.

Geeeeez Paul!

It's a learning process after all, posters posting and moderators moderating. Overall this is still the best Amiga site IMO and it will continue to improve.

It will get better as we (the posters) learn how to temper our posts and the Moderators lean when, where and how to draw the "line", but it still is all in flux and will continue to be in flux as the learning process continues.

It certainly is not perfect with hiccups and glitches on both sides of the isle (I missed what happened to Toaks even though I tried to follow that thread) I know I sometimes get frustrated here too ( less and less these days ) and will take a break of a few days to a week or more.

Comming back after a time away and all things seem fresh and OK. Esp. if I visit other so called Amiga sites. But to quit the site seems silly to me ..try taking a break..please.

Very sad....

Anyway being a moderator is not an easy task. Moderating threads is needed, trust me, it shouldn't take too personal. I hope you come back mate.

I would like to offer my support to Anonymous, err.. AmigaOneProductions, I found the censorship, locking of threads, and heavy handed moderation to be far more unpleasant that any "Flaming" that occured in any thread I've read the Amiga OS Vs. MorphOS or any other.
