Super Stardust CD32 available to download

I just noticed that the CD32 version of Super Stardust, which I provided for Dream17, has finally been made available:
http://www.dream17.co.uk/softography.php?id=18&s=downloads

It has all the awesome music tracks as MP3s. Something like MakeCD can burn it to CD, just drag'n'drop the ISO+MP3s (in order) to MakeCD's main window, then click on Write tracks :) .

N.B. If you have an old/slow Amiga (i.e. real 68k) then MakeCD may have trouble decoding the MP3s in real-time, which would give a useless CD. So you'd need to let MakeCD create an intermediate image first.

@ChrisH

That's great news! What are the differences compared to classic disk version (except the music tracks)?

EDIT: What about Frying Pan, is it able to burn it as well?

OK I have found the sound tracks at http://www.dream17.co.uk/goodies_audio.php but how do you know that order to burn them in?

the only difference I'm aware of is the controller. IIRC, with the disk version there were some things that could only be done with the keyboard. The CD32 version was completely controllable using only the CD32 gamepad.

@Dwyloc
You don't need to download THOSE mp3s. You should follow the link in my first post, scroll down to the "CD32 ISO download", download the 71.7MB ZIP file, and extract it. You should then find the ISO + all the MP3s.

@Zorro
The ZIP worked fine here. (I downloaded it to see what changes had been made to what I provided - none it seems!) edit: although I didn't actually extract the files, so there might still be a problem...

@logicalheart
It one of my favourite games too, which is why I paid a high price for an original copy!
While I probably got it off Ebay, I have bought one CD32 game from these people (in Wales I think) without any problems:
http://www.amigadeals.co.uk/cd32.htm
(Bear in mind that these games are second hand, but usually in good condition)

@AmiKit
AFAIK, Super Stardust CD32 is identical to the AGA version, except for the music (which sound great).

Frying Pan claims to convert MP3s, so it should work too, but I haven't tried.

Super Stardust CD32 ( Hall of Light - Info )
Super Stardust CD32 ( E.A.G.E.R. - Info )
Super Stardust CD32 ( Lemon Amiga - Info )

Apart from the MP3's/Music in the game, the other difference between the AGA version and the CD32 version is the intro sequence(s).

Burning with Nero should be possible too, if you open the CUE file using Nero. But as I didn't realise Nero Express could do that (*), I never tried, so I don't know if it'll work.

(* I was forced to discover that today, as you need a CUE-compatible CD burner prog to write the Live CD for Zeta OS. Pity Yellow Tab went bust, hopefully the new owner lasts longer.)

@ChrisH

For most burning needs you cant go far wrong with ImgBurn if we are talking Windows burning software...

It provides some fairly technical but useful information too, and is free/donation based.

edit: updated freeware/shareware status (kind of!).

I have downloaded the file again and it seems to be ok now.

Thanks...

Has anybody tried it with E-UAE under Os4?

@ChrisH

I tried burning it with Nero 6.6.0.8 but it failed saying that an error occured in line 4 while loading the SuperStardust_full.cue file (or in line 2 in case of SuperStardust.cue). I'm downloading ImgBurn right now...

Edit:
Unfortunatelly ImgBurn do not support CUE files at all - just plain CD image files like ISO, NRG or single BIN files.

@yak

I also always get errors in the file when buring .cue's using NERO 6.3...

I'll have to try the program linked a few posts above.
Edit:

Doh, is there a cue->iso converter?

@Lou

After taking a closer look I found out that this is the line unliked (at least) by Nero6:
Quote:
TRACK 01 MODEx/2xxx

It seems that the type of track cannot be 'x', it must be fully specified. According to this site, one of the possible values is:
Quote:
TRACK 01 MODE1/2048

It worked, now Nero loads the file. I'm burning the CD right now, will tell later if the game works.

Btw, I want to test it with WinUAE, how do I set up the CD drive in it?

@yak

you'll need the CD32 3.1 Rom image and the cd32 extended rom.
