@Metalheart

altivec is enabled by default only if you have a G4 cpu. However it is not active in all lib of mplayer. I'm working on it now. But it is very difficult because there are many problems with altivec an gcc

@afxgroup

Hi!
Here on my G3SE and VooDoo3 3000 if I try to put -vo cgx_overlay my system crash
Another thing: why window border options wont ork anymore? Now my play window was ALWAYS in standard amigaos window borders (like any other window...)

However VERY GOOD work at this moment :)
I hope in final release I can play dvd's on my "poor" G3@666 :)

Tuxedo.

I have never managed to get any version of Mplayer to work consistently. THis new preview 3 included.

Most videos I try, lock up the computer after a couple of seconds, whether they are AVI,MPG etc it still gets the same result, and I have to do a hard reset with the reset button.

I have an A1XE-G3
Radeon 8500
512Mb RAM
Sil IDE card

The line I use is :

mplayer -vo cgx_wpa::ALWAYSBORDER filename

I also get a lock up if I try the MPlayer GUI from Onyxsoft.

The main movie that guarantees me a lock up after 2-3 seconds is located here:

http://www2.ati.com/misc/demos/ati-radeon-x850-dangerouscurves-movie-v1.0.mpg

Any suggestions or things to try?

Will there be support for DVD menus somewhen? I don't know if the Linux version has menu support, I'm using XINE for playing DVD's and it has.

Probably your OS4 installation has something wrong. have you tried to increase the stack?

I'll second that question. I've been waiting for 3 days to get back on and ask my own question.

I got the current version to work with an encrypted dvd, but it defaults to French, and it's been 46 years since I took French in high school. Is there a way to select language within a config file?

You aint alone dude... I couldn't get any joy out of it either.

After donkey's yonks I actually managed to get an error message that I could at least understand.

the Gui never did fire up the player, clicking play simply brought up a mplayer not found requester.

In the guis prefs there wasn't anywhere to change its path other than C.

I deleted it now but just for info..

I download the packed files ( mplayer & gui) to RAM: (as you do), and installed mplayer to Programs: (hd1:)
I then installed Gui to the same dir.

The gui bore no resemblence whatsoever to the screenshot on that site.

I guess when they "UnGeek it I'll have another try.

the overlay is not active yet. However it shouldn't crash. Have you downloaded the last version?

For the DVD. When DMA will be active on DVD the speed will be improved

@all
i'm not the developer of GUI. so don't ask me questions about it.

Great work man! AVI files work great now! And so does VCD!

DVD is NOT even useable on my µA1! But it plays the damn
things! It's so slow that I think I'm not even getting 10 fps.
Hopefully DMA will make it work smoothly in 24-30 fps?!

Btw I was wondering how the fullscreen option is done?
I noticed that it doesn't use the full screen width.
Are you showing it in screen mode chosen by the program
depending on the resolution of the movie?
No scaling done at all?

I think you should make your own GUI for MPlayer.
Deniil715's GUI is not really good as a media player frontend.
It actually look more like a prefs windows. But it's great that
he's done it when there's a lack of an official one

Keep up the good work!
I have a µA1-C with 750GX 800MHz and a hell of alot of DVDs.
So if you want MPlayer tested with DVDs you can always PM
me. I have all types of DVDs, Region1, Region2, Multiregion,
NTSC, PAL, Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital, MPEG and DTS and
more..

Btw I compared MPlayer with Moovid (from prerelease upd 2).
Moovid is many times faster to startup but it's image quality
sucks! It also spits at some AVIs that MPlayer plays fine.
