I have the same probs. I thought they only occured while using ethernet, but I have been without inet for 2 months now, and all mp3 players still hangs my XE sooner or later. I have noticed that if you skip tunnes fast in for example Amiga Amp, it hangs, could you all try to load up a playlist and skip tunes like crazy for 15 secs and report back? I think I have 'solved' this problem by setting the cache in AmigaAmp to 'file', now I can skip tunes like a mad man, and it haven't hung while playing either, but I haven't tested it very much since i am used to my a1 hanging while playing music, so I don't do it very much. Could you also try to change to 'file' cache and report back?
This cache thing makes me believe it's not ethernet related... but then it might be ethernet related aswell as related to something else.. as my XE hangs while playing mods and sids aswell.. :( _________________ AOS4 Betatester, Peg2, G4@1ghz, Radeon 9250 256mb, 1gb RAM.

As already said runs memtester memtester 300 1
If you got errors... memory is the problem. If not vcore is the problem. Maybe both _________________ ikir |

Other than moving from PS/2 to USB keybaord and mouse, I think I updated to the latest AHI at around the same time.
It seems to happen mostly when AmigaAmp is busy, but because I can't make it crash "on demand" I'm not sure whether that is the cause, or if it is something else (eg. the USB stack or drivers).

I don't know what to blame Rogue since I've had crashes from audio brought from RDesktop, Amplifier, AmigaAMP & TuneNet at differing points in OS4's updates etc... |
I tend to find the apps you mentioned unstable and buggy, although Tunenet is remarkably solid for an alpha version. Rdesktop can't provide audio if you're using W2K server. This is a Windows problem, not Amiga, as the same thing happens with the Mac version of rdesktop. Provided by Microsoft So yes, you will get crashes there evntaully if you try to force it to play sound with W2K server.
There's certainly work remaining to be done on audio, notably for volume control, and AHI currently isn't at all intuitive, especially if you're coming from another OS, even Linux. However, I find it pretty stable on the whole.
Funny that most other OS users would immediately assume the problem lies with the app, whereas many Amiga users insist on blaming the OS. I thought apps were supposed to be written to suit the OS, not the other way round... |

(yes I know, replying to myself)
Just read the bit about running WinAmp with rdesktop. So it can't be W2K because otherwise there'd be no sound, but running WinAmp isn't really what rdesktop is designed for !
I still reckon it's more an app than an OS problem though. |

Sorry i don't understand... Does Amplifier alone, with native os4 mpega crash after a while? TRY ONLY AMPLIFIER ON YOUR OS4 installation first. Don't use Rdesktop now. _________________ ikir |

AHI.Device 6.2 AmigaAmp 2.14 Soundblaster Live 5.1 Play AOS4 Beta Update 2, with (latest Eth3Com, I guess?)
I don't use ethernet ATM though.
The memtest didn't turn out as great as I had hoped though. It gave me errors, I will try with my spare mem. _________________ AOS4 Betatester, Peg2, G4@1ghz, Radeon 9250 256mb, 1gb RAM.

- emu10kx.audio 6.1 (26/03/2005) - ahi.device 6.2c OS4 (15.Apr.05) fdtrans 51.14 (C Version) - AHI Preferences 6.0 (02/02/2005) - mpega.library 2.4 - SoundBlaster Live (5.1 I think) - AmigaOS4 Beta Update 2 - eth3com.device 51.5
I don't know what other files are involved in my connection. I use C:AddNetInterface DEVS:NetInterfaces/~(#?.(info|off)) in my startup to get online, AddNetInterface is v: 4.42
I mostly use AMPlifier 2.35 but have AmigaAmp 2.14 installed too.
Update: Last night I played music with AMPlifier 2.35 while I was asleep & it was still running this morning. This evening I've just left it running while I've gone out, come home & it was still running. I just went online with AWeb & as soon as a window came up (I think it was a cookie acceptance window although the contents didn't get drawn) we locked up. The looping section of sound, no mouse movement etc. I had to press the reset button on my tower (Keyboards reboots didn't work).

That's the problem. I've never had a Grim The machine just locks up & all I can do is reboot. Sometimes invalidated my HD too, that probably if the MP3 file is being accesses right at the point of being read. Maybe.

i think it is a vcore problem. Nothing else. Have you lockups with MPEG and mplayer (only mpeg)?
If yes, i assure you that is a vcore problem _________________ http://www.amigasoft.net |

That's exactly the same problem I have.

I'm using exactly the same versions, and getting exactly the same problem (not very often though). I've just played three AVIs on the trot with MPlayer and the machine is still running. It seems to only occur if AmigaAmp is playing an mp3, and I'm using Notepad(!) or AWeb. Even then it doesn't happen very often, and I tried running AmigaAmp and dnetc at the same time for an hour or so with no crash, even doing other things at the same time.
As I said, it only started happening recently, so I wouldn't rule out the new version of AHI.
I also have no way of telling whether it is fixed as I can't reproduce the crash on demand.
