I thought that I could ask since this is related to network...
I'm connected directly to my ISP now so I'm not using the router and I get problems.
Sometimes I get this:
"requested address not available Þp 90 #´ ÌT Þp Aô ÜÙ ÜÐ"
That looks weird......
And sometimes it tries to connect to 192.168.1.x (the last nr is 2-4) wich would be my old router ip.
And sometimes it works, it gets an IP from the ISP.
Any ideas of what could be wrong?
Also, when I downloaded with ATC I got a speed of ~150kb/s. I was playing music and got the lockup after 10 minutes.
Then I tried AmiFTP and suddenly I got 800-900kb/s instead! I was playing music and the lockup came *much* quicker, in only a matter of seconds. Last edited by hotrod on 28-Jun-2005 at 07:04 AM.

Even more info:
I began to download a file from sunet and got the speed of 1.9MB/s. I launched Songplayer and played a song, the speed droped to 600kB/s and then it took only a few seconds untill it locked up.
I've cleaned the fans and moved the soundcard to another slot.
And now I don't have any more ideas on what to do... I'm waiting for the new Swiftech cooler but I don't think that it will solve this problem. |

Try to cool down the zone near the cpu, not only the cpu. _________________ ikir |

Not hanging yet. I have a sneaky suspicion that its the mpega.library that could be at fault here, as all the other audio programs mentioned use this to decode the MP3 audio streams. MPlayer does not... |
I tried listening radio with mplayer which decodes mp3 without mpega.library, and it crashed too (but less frequently).
I hope it isn't sblive + mobo issue. Is someone experiencing the problem with non-sblive card?

I have SBLive too, but i fixed with right vcore+big fan on cpu and near chips.
So if for someone the problem isn't heat/vcore, we have to find 2 problems not 1. _________________ ikir |

I got a fan at the sidedoor of the tower wich blows cold air on the motherboard. I don't know, yet, what to do. I'll see how the new Swiftech works and then I'll look for some fans then... |

Since my cooling is pretty good (2 fans pull air into the case, two push it out), and I've changed to a better heatsink/fan combo, I'm pretty certain this isn't to do with heat, at least on my setup.
I may try to put my CPU to 933Mhz (I have an XPC7455RX933PC component) and see if that helps or not. The VCore is set to 1.89. Last edited by amipal on 28-Jun-2005 at 06:36 PM.

The VCore is supposed to be set at 1.85, and 1.84 is the closest you get to that. You should never put it above the recommended value!
Have a look at intuitionbase.com for an article written by Stéphane Guillard. |

So, now I've had Amiga Amp using WarpUP playing for 24hrs and more with DNetC going and I have no problems at all.
Think we can rule put mpega.library.
Whats so very different when downloading many files as compared to only one or two? And what can that have to do with audio? _________________ Fixed A1G4XE 7455 RX933PC with fried CPU Sapphire Radeon 9100 128mb ESI Juli@ 24bit 192kHz Envy24HT Sil 680 Ultra Ata 133 E-ide SeaGate Barracuda 120gb 8mb cache |

That is just OS4's way of saying it is worn out...?
Seriously though, I also have occational problems with sound when running Tunenet and surfing at the same time.. The sound hangs, and I have to use the reset-button on the tower-case and reboot. Not very frequent though,

Well, rule out the WarpUP version of mpega.library... I might give that one a try also, and see if we can pin it down to OS4's implementation of the library.

The load across the southbridge would be higher due to increased IDE bandwidth usage? Just a guess._________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back! |

Why not rule out mp3 completely and just play AIFF's while surfing? Last edited by DaveAE on 29-Jun-2005 at 05:59 PM.

Good call - just need to start creating some! I'll let you know how I get on with the AIFFs._________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back! |

I've posted this on the thread already (Tho it IS a big thread so I guess the info could easily slip thru).
I have AIFF's (Recorded using AHIRecord) & these have also caused me the crash under the tests I have done (Mostly with AMPlifier because it's my most used player).
@Bean
I think this may be broken down to the actual audio decoding (Though I may be VERY wrong. Are you still working on that streaming software for OS4? If you have slightly working version there, would you be able to stream audio over a network (Most, one test with audio & one test muted?) to see if that causes the crash?
I guess that would be more an encoding test when muted. Just a thought.
FuZion.
OT: Has anyone else had, since Update 3, AMPLifier crash (Different crash to the thread subject) occasionally after it has been iconified which takes the system completely down & also occasionally when loading files into the Playlist (This one gives a Reaper)? The lockup occurs here when playing audio, it doesn't matter what!
It could be Quake II (doesn't happen much but it has happened), when I downloaded from FTP I ran E2140 and it crashed....
Network + audio = crash it seems.
And you have to stress the network... Download at high speed. |

i had exactly the same probs as you, and i fixed vcore and cooling. the problem was still there. switched ram, and here I am, using tunenet right now, and I have done so for 2 hours+ without any audio lockups. Infact, I don't think my audio has ever hung since i switched ram. Worth a shot?

Could it be a IRQ conflict? Maybe moving the soundcard to a different slot might help? |

WTF?! ... My RAM is reported as being ok... What RAM should I use then?
I got the 256Mb that I got for my A1 somewhere but I don't feel like geting back to that one...
If that's the problem then... damn! It isn't easy to find "working RAM" you know..? |

Some people have mentioned this before, so why not. Think I'll give it a go.
Let you all know how things turn out.
Edit:
Naw, crashed just like before. Any special slots it should be moved to or would one move be enough as a test?
I guess I can't use the 66mhz slot below the AGP slot as long as I have an AGP graphics card in?
So what next?Last edited by Steff on 30-Jun-2005 at 03:28 AM.
