Yes i use 1.79 as it states in the Intuition base article http://www.intuitionbase.com/static.php?section=notes
I have the XPC7455RX933PC as stated on that page. Mine is 933mhz cpu downclocked to 800mhz as i bought it that way and is standard for us a1 buyers.
Im afraid of overclocking it to 933mhz or 1ghz. And i dont know even how to do it. Is there much difference ?
Anyone has Stephane Guillard email ? The one that i found on different pages and his old page dont work. |

disk to disk, but it had already crashed by then. I got a crash on another session doing ram to usb, but I believe that is a crossdos problem with large files.
I wasn't even using the network at the time it crashed, I'm aware of the problems with the newer eth3com.device but this tends to just kill the network, not the entire machine.
I'm using FFS _________________ "Miracles we do at once, the impossible takes a little longer" - AJS on Hyperion Avatar is Tabitha by Eric W Schwartz |

I *do* believe that there are problems with network...
A long time ago I used a network-card with Linux and a special-compiled kernel for Linux and it never gave me any problems, this was with DMA on for the IDE-controller....
Then the "fix" came and I bought a SIL 0680 controller card instead wich I've been using ever since.
In LInux I get halts all the time when I download something, download, halt, download, halt etc... But at least it begins at top-speed.
In AOS it's slow and gives the same symtoms...
I do now believe that there are flaws with the A1 motherboard (I've got the XE)....

I'm also using the latest ethernet driver, an SB Live! card and FFS.
I suffered four such crashes this Sunday while browsing with IBrowse and listening to MP3s via AmigaAMP. Something is at fault here! _________________ After a decade away from the scene, I am back! |

*if* the ethernet-hardware is at fault, what would I do then if I had allready sent in my Amiga for the fixes? Am I screwed then? |

Maybe it's problem whit the sil? irq conflict ?
there is a command in linux for dumping debug info from the linux kernel,
Go back to via686b, lets hope update3 comes soon,
if you continue to have problems send it back to your dealer for checkup,
it's easie for you dealer to check ram and cpu settings, what else try a clean install problems?
if you have a fixed system then you might need the new eth3com.device or the next update whit via dma support _________________ http://lifeofliveforit.blogspot.no/ Facebook::LiveForIt Software for AmigaOS |

I've used the memtest program and it repports that RAM is ok. I haven't noticed any corruption at all so I believe that it is (this is for AOS 4 and Linux). All is stable as well.
What I've got though is snaps in the sound and and stuff in some movies that I've downloaded (like Pantera, ACDC, Metallica live at Moscow -91, not very illegal I think) and the movie jumping forward wich shows on corruption. This has only happened recently, earlier everything downloaded was ok but I did still have the halts during download.
This happens with and without the router (without I got a 50Mbit line, and with it limits the speed to 10Mbit), it happens with AOS 4 as well but it's slower.
I didn't notice this with 0.5Mbit ADSL though and I haven't noticed it computer - computer transfer via FTP except for the every now and then halts...
It is a bit faster with my ethernet-card under Linux though than with the one on the motherboard and I get less stalls.
On the PCs that I've tried the download-rate are steady = no halts, and that is with an old AMD K6 (or 7) 450 and a laptop 1GHz+ (don't remember exactly).
That is pretty much how it works here..... Not a huge problem but the slow rate under AOS 4 is the biggest problem, the rest feals like a mystery...

| It's not vcore either, and I wasn't even using the network.
I'm back to blaming the USB stack, more investigation required methinks.

| I changed back to the eth3com.device from the os4 cd instead of the one from update 2 and i only got one ping lockup (cant ping, have to reboot) in days. Thats a record. Today i got the cant ping.
I hope with update 3 that there is a new and better driver as using it from os4cd is slower :')
But then it could be that im just having luck this week.

I use ANR always -- gotta have the jazz! Anyway, the scrolling in IBrowse affects the radio! What does that -- excuse the pun -- sound like!? Someone said we don't use CIA. So, who's running the hardware IO specifically in the VIA pci controller. Does sound, ethernet, DMA, all fall under one convient place source -- ArticiaS, or spreads seperately to all the a fore mentioned device. AmigaOne or AgonyOne? Dennis |

I get that too, with AmigaAmp. If I scroll in Multiview with certain document types (seems to be mainly those of "document" superclass, like AmigaGuide or HTML) the sound breaks up or stops. I've reduced it by playing with the buffer sizes, but there is a thin line between sound breaking up, and scrollig becoming erratic.
@thread I increased the default stack size to 64k and have only seen the problem once since. However, I've not used the computer as extensively since I changed it so I'm not sure whether these two things are related.

I investigated a little and this came to light:
1. the problem seems to be not related nor to player app, neither to mpega.library, tried tunenet/amigaamp/amplifier/mplayer with same symptoms, although mplayer looks most stable of all.
2. fresh install of os4 doesn't help
3. older 3com device doen't help
4. various version of ahi don't help
5. the crash (looping sound and fozen A1) always happens during network activity
6. it happens during playback of streaming and local files, although streaming looks more likely to cause crash faster
setup: A1G4 800 MHz, Kingston ram, SBlive, os4 upg2 The ram is ok (passed the test), cooling is adequate, vcore is correct Linux works with network and audio on without problems.
Looks like audio driver/ahi trash network related memory or vice-versa
Just my twopence on the issue Jack _________________

I had this problem when i had the right vcore for my G4 1000 (1,74). Then i tried to up it a little again (1,79) and now i don't have problems at all. Anyway try at your own risk.
Another thing: Use the ram slot near the cpu, if i use the other one i have some problems. _________________ ikir |

Could anyone point to the most correct and comprehensive list of vcores for A1 cpus? Mine is "on on on off" =1.69V at 800Mhz (7451 G4)
