No, it's not in any beta SDK, it's part of the normal SDK.

Want to see a list of the games I currently have for my PC that are based on Quake 3?

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault
Medal Of Honor: Pacific Assault
Call Of Duty
American Mcgee's Alice
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force
Star Trek: Elite Force 2

Those are the ones I could find or know about. Note that I did not include all the expansion paks I have for some of those games. If I did that the list would be three times as long!

So, it's too bad we can't get some of those ported.

@DWolfman

I wouldn't say that too fast With OpenGL Mesa and/or MiniGL and 3D-drivers, it shouldn't be a problem. The source code for the Quake 3 engine is to be released in the coming week. Everything is possible, my friend

First of all, it's called OpenGL. MESA is just an open source OpenGL implementation.

And the Quake 3 engine source was released yesterday, there's already a working port.

I think this is just a misunderstanding here between you and RWO.

He did NOT say you need OpenGL to make MiniGL. He did say OpenGL
is needed generally and that a MiniGL implemetation would be ok to
start with. He was to the best of my understanding not telling anyone
what Q3 needed or anything of the sort.

He even answered AMiGR's post with "yes probably" when he said
that MiniGL would be enough for a Q3 port.


Btw keep up the good work on OS4!

Yes I saw this on ANN also..
Does anyone have the "working" port? Is it free to download?

I suppose only MOS beta testers will have the possibility to use
this as MiniGL is a part of 1.5?

Of course everything is possible but what about Hyperion finish the OS first? I think Quake 3 or its deriatives are not that important, at least not a compelling reason to buy AmigaOS 4 compatible hardware.

Quake 3 is over 3 years old game, and of course been running on all major operating systems for years.

That said, it's not my business how Hyperion or their team of AmigaOS 4 developers spend their freetime

I know Mesa is the Open Source OpenGL, so that's what the OS4 will use. I'm happy to hear the source code for Quake 3 was released yesterday! Now it's time to take some serious action here! -) Excellent news!

Well... it's out there, like iD promised.

It's just a matter of time now. I would love to see the Amiga version running on the AmigaONE/OS4 soon, so i could challenge my local dealer to play a bit with me. He on his PeeCee, me on the AmigaONE at his store while people see the Amiga (me) winning and fragging his lights out!!.

Let the fragging begin!!!

P.S.:i may not make much sense with this post but i just woke up, checked my e-mail and saw that the Q3 source code has been released. Man, if only i could code... I love this game, specially in multi-player mode with other humans and not just bots.
