@Rogue

I agree with you I'll do a fresh install, and just copy over the settings
i did in Update 3 without affecting the newly updated files, libraries and
everything No problem

It gonna work greatly

I might spend sometime getting it setted correctly, but it should
work nicely, no problem

You guys are great Thanks

Yes, just like the final release: when it's done... and when hardware is available... and ?

Leo.

The hardware situation is well commented on in far too many places to mention. I don't believe your bringing that up here is necessary yet again.

@Rogue

Even better! I could just do a full install over Update 3 instead of just
Updating it, so i wouldn't have to format my current OS4 partition? I can
just choose to do a Full Install of Update 4 over my settings, and just
do the minor settings, as most of the things are already there?

Is that so?

What do you think?

Question:Are you going to advise that third party software be re-installed to
cover for these possible issues?

I know I'm not Rogue but I certainly recommend this approach. Start over from scratch and reset your prefs. You'll be glad you did after you see all the new cool options anyway....

To that end, another thing you might want to do while you are waiting is locate the keys and codes for any software you purchased to have them ready for when you do reinstall them.

I have Update 3 with SFS filesystem, Kens' latest and lost icons, the Zami Theme among many other things. When Update 4 is out, should i do a completely full-install that would replace the whole system, or just an update-installment?

To master ssolie you listen:

"To that end I'd extremely very highly recommend installing upd4 brand new on a brand new formatted partition. Back that up and then reinstall all your software on top of that. Now is the time to back things up and prep. for update 4 while you are waiting."

@Rogue

Thanks for the update on the update4 progress!
I'm glad you guys take the extra time required to make the updates work as good as possible.

Many Thanks to All at Hyperion and All Beta Testers working on OS4!

@Rogue

I Love your Hard work with OS4.0.
I must say you have taking the Amiga OS to a completly new level
and Im also so happy with update3, sure I want update4 soon too but the one thing that I miss alot
is still a release of Quake3 Arena with hardware accelerated graphics, I belive many people would love to see that game on Amiga OS 4.0!
And dont tell me to recompile it for myself,,,I know that you are the only one who have the right qualification to make a port of Quake3 to OS4!

@Rogue

I have a blank partition on a new drive waiting for OS4 Update 4 to be installed in it. Just waiting...

[drums fingers on table]

Actually Rogue, take your time. Unless it turns up this weekend (which it won't) I'm not going to be able to install it until the end of next week anyway.

Plus I'd rather it was as good as possible, rather than rushed out with all of those last minute bugs still present.

Chris

Just ask Microsoft! They do it all the time.

Does anyone remember "Chicago in '93, Cairo in '94"? Windows 95 got that name for a reason, and Windows NT 4.0 came out a year later. If the biggest marketing department on the planet can't do it, we shouldn't hold Rogue against the wall for missing by (approximately) a week. And, the last I looked, Microsoft is still doing it. I, for one, am certainly having trouble finding Windows Vista in my local stores.

Re: Avatar
(since everyone else is commenting)
Yup, looks good. I'm sure my cats would love it, although I don't think they'd fare well against a double-ended light saber (sabre?).
