I hope AmigaInc had learned the lesson, develop AOS in house and not give anymore a third party to develop it.they do it with Haage&partner and H&P screwed them, they do it with Hyperion and Hyperion screwed them.

We dont know that Hyperion screwed anyone. We dont know the full story (from both sides).

It's so well chosen that someone even got to the trouble of naming himself DoodooHead

For first time in many moons, I have to agree with bbrv: they have done what they should have done from the start, with no lawyers involved: to ask Amiga Inc for a license as Amiga Inc OS page states:

Quote:
AmigaOne Partners have the right to distribute AmigaOS 4.0 into the AmigaOne desktop computer market and into Cyberstorm PPC enabled devices.  Distribution into any other market or device requires a licensing and distribution agreement with Amiga, Inc. [...] For information on licensing, adaptation or modification of any existing Amiga Operating System, please contact,  technologylicensing@amiga.com

so I would say it's the required first step to take when you want OS4 ported to another platform.

But, as usual, I find very unprofessional attitudes in bbrv, like beating a honeycomb with a stick when you are trying to get some honey out of it. From the same page:

Quote:
In 2001,  Amiga, Inc. licensed the development of AmigaOS 4.0 to AmigaOne Partners, collectively Hyperion VOF and Eyetech Group Ltd. [...] Amiga, Inc. does not distribute or support AmigaOS 4.0.  For information on product availability, support, local dealers or resellers, please contact AmigaOne Partners through either Hyperion VOF or Eyetech Ltd.

This "Dear Thomas and me..." doens't look as funny to me, but as a very unprofessional, provocative and agressive way to approach a prospective business partner...

Saluditos,

Ferrán.

You ARE kidding, aren't you? Hyperion has done (is doing!) a VERY GOOD JOB!, far beyond from what was expected for the final release of OS4.

I´m not talking about the technical side, I agree with you that the job done with OS4 is very very good

Perhaps because you'd also realized that this is in fact an international forum! jejeje

I may confess that acordado was first seen by me as awakening, but then i also remembered that due to the way it was written it can't be seen as that.. damn portuñol/portunhol that goes bumping in my head

No, "acordado" meants "me remembered" (lembrar-se in portugese, i believe) it also meants "to decide" (concondar in portuguese) but not in this context

Well... the act of remembering is in itself an act of awakening... so it still make sense, then we have the 'acordo' as in 'deal' and 'acordado' as in the act of making a deal between two parts (in this case for the sake of example Genesi - Amiga Inc ), as such also with the 'decide' meaning... we also have 'acordo' and 'acordo' spelt the same way although with a different meaning and a slightly different phonetic

EDIT: It seems that in this topic there is talk about this issue.

Hmmm... ok, ExecSG belongs to Friedens, not to Hyperion or Amiga Inc. (btw., there has been this famous 500000 upfront - is this the price of Friedens' Exec or for complete OS4 Exec included for target hw?).

In the past Hyperion (or Frieden brothers, I'm no longer sure) have stated that if you want license, you need to contact Amiga Inc., it's not up to them. Does anyone know, if someone wants licence to run OS4 on their HW, what is the correct procedure? Is it simply 1) Contact Amiga Inc, have ok from them, 2) Contact and pay Hyperion to get the porting done and 3) contact and pay Friedens to get ExecSG for target platform? Maybe answers could clarify things a bit for possible hw producers Genesi included. Maybe someone could collect all the necessary contacts for them? We already have technologylicensing@amiga.com, but the others too...

Below are posts from this thread that made me wonder these things:

Dear Sir, please inform us of the license terms for OS4 on all Genesi platforms, including the EFIKA.

For you to know, we also plan to reinitiate support for MorphOS simultaneously.

We actually think this will help the overall Amiga market and hope you agree.

Best regards,
Raquel and Bill

Very funny, I bet you are a hit at parties with that.

But I think I pointed out in the past that business proposals are much more convincing when they aren't done on public forums but rather via email.

How much needs to happen until you (in a general meaning, not specifically aimed at you) understand that *I* was never the hurdle in achieving that?

Ah, nevermind.

Didn't say so, I guess contacting Hyperion would be a starter. I merely wanted to point out that Amiga Inc themselves cannot license AmigaOS 4.0 in its current form to anybody.

But nevermind, I'll shut up. It seems that whatever I say is misinterpreted anyway, so I am going to refrain from posting.

i think he is referring to the 500,000 annual revenue requirement as stated by bill(ainc). but it seems he is confused as to what this is.
