The rumour going on is that OS4 runs on Mac Minis, and OS5 will run on Cell, Arm and x86 in 2007, Again the rumour is that Bill McEwen itself was the one saying it:

Quote:
#Amigaworld
< Helgis> Amiga Inc are helping a couple of partners, including Hyperion on getting hardwares for OS4 and helping them complete OS4. One interesting thing is that they somehow have managed to get OS4 run on Mac Minis! Yes, it's true..

< Helgis> And OS5 also seems very true. They had to work from scratch, but they have done the work for over 2 years, and they hope to ship it sometime in 2007, supporting Cell, Arm and x86 CPUs..!

source: Moobunny

PS- please do not forget *not* to blame the messenger

From Helgis?

On Moobunny?

This is what is known as a 'wind-up'.

@pixie

Apparently OS5 supports potato chips as well.

The credibility of any of this is beyond questionable, but the timeframes make even less sense. Even with OS4 running on orphaned A1s, the rumour makes it sound like 2 different solutions would hit the market in a short period of time.

The nice thing about vapourware is you can set the features and ETAs however you want.

OS4 on a PPC Mac Mini? Perhaps. OS4 on an x86 Mac Mini? Dreaming.

Interesting spin though. I don't how others feel, but the x86 Mac Mini is probably the closest thing the industry has come to developing a machine with an Amiga-like spirit in years. The design is killer, it's compact, *affordable* and it offers dual-boot capability without the "poison" label. Imagine a system for well under $1000 that ran Amiga, Mac and Windows software.

It's well known that Amiga OS cannot run side by side with windows... by now it's so public domain one can order it on a disk, like those fred fish...

I like Helgis optimism but I don’t think he as clue about what he talking about, I think it’s all hopeful thinking.

Better to key your eyes on confirmed products Panda or where it Samantha?

Any way I’m hoping that some deals can be made whit BBRV and AmigaInc. BBRV is producing lots of hardware, and show that he is able to handle warranty issues, if not then I going to be happy to buy any product that has USB2.0 working and 1 Ghz or more CPU power and fast Graphics card access, as upgrade path for my AmigaOne - XE.

So...the path was Bill McEwen>Helgis>#amigaworld irc>irc DCC>moobunny forum>AW forum?
Interesting issue as regards TOS.

Eliminate the rumors and 90% of Amiga converstation and 99% of the entertainment dries up. Bring on the rumors. Rumors by Helgis, probably even better.

Witch hunting now?

1st- Moobunny isn't a private forum
2nd- IRC session is nothing sorts of private/personal
3rd- you can say things as long as you use your own words the content of personal mail... which seem to be the case
4th- Helgis didn't sign any NDA
5th- To copyright somethign you actually have to go trough proper channels

As you see there's nothing close to the issue you brought in

Nothing to complain here as I see it.
The TOS says:

Copyrighted Information: Copyrighted material, private email text, and other privileged information may not be posted here without prior written permission from the original author. If you find that your postings to the web site have been copied, emailed and/or publicly posted or distributed elsewhere or brought to the forums by another for posting without your permission, which constitutes violation of your privacy or copyright infringement, please notify the Webmaster directly so the situation can be promptly addressed. If such an event occurs, the individual posting the information shall be held solely responsible.

This outtake is from the public IRC, so it's public.
If Helgis has signed an NDA with Bill, then he has broken it on IRC, but the forum TOS does not cover IRC, nor Moobunny. .

@tomazkid

Thank you for the response.
We have obviously entered a period here (as noted by topics such as "ACK" and
this thread) where people may desire to give responses, but may not totally
grasp AW policy and protocol by merely reading the TOS.
I felt it was necessary to have a clarification on the front page at this time
for those who perhaps wish to comment on issues, but were unsure of whether or
not to do so.

First of all, I don't think that's Helgis.

Second of all, Bill McEwen and Helgis are pen pals now? Riiiight! Sell me an A1 while you're at it! If Helgis ever did get an email from Bill I suspect it would be something like this: "How many times do I need to tell you, OS4 will NEVER RUN on x86! That's like saying OS4 runs now on the Mac Mini, and that OS4 will be running on Cell and ARM by 2007!"

Both of those quotes say Helgis on them. I should blame you for propogating his "beliefs".

O.k. we know that Helgis is so full of the #### it's unbelievable.

We also know, that McBill would neverever tell the truth, when a lie could work (and also when a lie won't work).

Mmmm, 2 compulsive liars, mmmmm guess what that means ......

IT'S ALL TRUE !!!!!!!!

Seriously, I think Bill Evans has it right, if it was true it would be good news, but it would have been even better news back when PPC-Macs were still on sale brand-new.

I actually got to see the mail and response... And it does not look like it is a hoax from helgis side. It does really mention that they are working on or are going to work on the mac mini.

So if someone is lying, then it is not helgis. It also mentioned that they are not ignoring ack and that they want to see the product ship with OS4.
And that they were last in talk with ack on monday..

Well, if true, I really hope OS4 will ship as stand alone and not bundled, got a Mac Mini PPC to test it on

If I thought OS4.0 was coming out this year or anytime soon, I would not be buying iMac intel.

No news out of Amiwest or even a press released from Amiga Inc about what it was that they were going to showcase has me putting my dollar votes into a Mac. I still have my Amigas, but the hope candles are beginning to flicker.
