@Rudei

yeah!!!!!!! well it goes to show tha unless hyperion makes an announcment then don't buy anything from anyone else. Why? because they have at best delivered into the hand of beta testers and of a1 owners. everyone else seem to be all talk

And the mystery device before hat was the Collas MMC which actually sounded like a good idea instead of a deathly dull PDA. '...in the vein of the A500'. That's what we want!

@-Sam-

Well it's not like it very hard to make something "sound good". Neither Collas or Amiga Inc delivered anything and thats what count.

Hopefully ACK is better to produce hardware than they are to meet their deadlines

So a hyped up PC hardware ("digital convergence" ) with QNX or Linux OS sounds like a good idea to you? Well that's unfortunately all the MMC was ever going to be...

@Naz

Notice we have not seen anything posted by ACK? That is good news. Look if you cry wolf over and over again it is very unlikley anyone will ever belive what you say again untill you back it up with solid evidence. So no news is always better then false news.

No that sounds almost as dull as a PDA and a major-league copout. What would have been good in 1997 was an OS4 based machine in the style of the A500.

What!? I thought the "Mystery Device" was generic for rumours of hardware in development which was always on the horizon and never seen by anyone. In the same catagory as "Vaporware".

All this time believing one thing. You are bursting my bubble, you know that.

@Rudei et al.

Higher priorities kept me at a client's site for well over 80 hours last week, including having to work a 22 hour day and a 15 hour day. Apologies go out to the those truly interested in moving forward. Also, regarding an announcement, we're likely to keep silent until the prototypes are running OS4 as per feedback from respected individuals.

Sincerely,

Adam Kowalczyk

ACK Software Controls, Inc.

PS Happy New Year!

What you say makes perfect sense, now it would probably had even more sense if you remembered it back then...

Happy New Year, and hope all the best for your endeavor

Well these statements at least seem to clarify and to indicate that the announcement that he had spoken of a week or two ago was to be made by ACK Controls themselves and/or partner, not from some other independant third party, and for announcement of future, not immediate, availability of some hardware for AOS4. Specifiically, I'm refering to the use of the terms "we" and "until the prototypes."

Maybe it's just me, but at this point I'd rather not hear anything at all until it's done and available, or within weeks of being available, for purchase.

Adam: You have to realize that your credibility goes further into the toilet every time you make an announcement and don't deliver for whatever reason, whether legitimate or not. Even if you eventually DO release something, this will most likely harm your possible sales to people in the community as you will have lost any trust required to convince them that you will stand behind what you said and the products you deliver. Consequently, it's probably best to stay silent until you have something available for sale.

@ackcontrls

Thanks for the update Adam. Even if they don't say alot, it's good to hear something. I know you don't want to talk about too much before it's ready, but could you tell us if Hyperion already have a prototype for the porting?

@elatour

With all respect, "we" is such a vague term in Adam's post; it could mean anyone, not necessarily Ack Controls or a partner. It could mean, for example, "anyone who is actually involved in attempting to bring these prototypes into existance" or "the OS4 developers"... the joys of the English language.

You could be correct, you could be wrong. I just though that I'd point out that you are making a bit of a leap there.
