No, where did I say that? I just stated the reasons why I won't buy it. Do you have a problem with that?

No, all is right.Only that you sounded like you want to impose your reasons to others

Please spare me with these meta-discussion when they are only grounded on the fact that you don't agree with my opinion.

When people say "Great, I will buy it!" do they also impose their opinion on others with that? Likewise, I don't impose my opinion on others when I say that I don't buy it and explain the reasons for it. But this is getting really off topic now...

Intel core 2 Extreme QX6700 quad core consumes 130 W an hypothetical 2 socketed motherboard (only available for AMD currently ) would consume 260 W.The dual core Amd consume more or less the same so quad CPU ( two dual core CPU) on their 4x4 platform consumes around 230 W, when real AMD quad core arrives you could have a eight cpu (two quad core) configuration. I don´t know how many W will consume the quad core CPU, so i extrapolate the current consumption to say that a eight core configuration could consume +300 W.
That there will be more power efficient quad core and up x86 CPU? sure, but i´m speaking about the current (or imminent) products.Obviously there will be better PowerPc Cpus in the future.

For me the Power Consumption mumbojumbo is equal to
the MHz one. I don't care if my PC takes 250 or 50 W as long
as Bush doesn't sign the Kyoto protocol. ;)

@Fransexy

Please google the keyword "L5320".

It's a new near future Quad Core from Intel that's running at 1,86 GHz and consumes 50 Watts.

It can be. And Ego has flourished Amiga's
past and stalled it, at least it seems so to me.

Yes, not very suprising really if you think about it.

Bitching is a strong word, I just see people expressing their
opinions. The bottom line is of course that if SAM will
prove itself to us. The design doesn't really matter, if it works.
But the price / preformance ratio always comes into mind
when you try to bring on more users.

Getting cross & setting a (relatively) arbitrary personal deadline isn't going to make the rest of the world change to your liking. In fact, I'm pretty sure that you'll be disappointed in two weeks time...

I don't think that I could have made myself any clearer than I already have in that it was MY personal deadline (not arbitrary, I've explained why), that I'm NOT expecting much, and that I am under NO ILLUSIONS that what I or countless others in the Amiga community think, wish or feel about the current situation matters one iota in what will or won't happen to AOS4 and the future of Amiga in general.

Like I've said before, after two years of no hardware, it's put up or shutup time for me. I'm sure I won't be a great loss to the community, but I'm just expressing what I'm sure many in the community have been and are thinking, and I know that many have already come to this conclusion a few months and years ago and already moved on, which the community WILL miss as whole. My such personal conclusion comes at the end of the month, which nobody is forced to agree with, pay any attention to, adopt or like - I'm expressing it anyway.

@elatour
I understood you perfectly well, but apparently I wasn't very clear myself

As I said myself, it is your *personal* deadline. In the grand scheme of OS4 things, your personal deadline *is* arbitrary, precisely because it's personal. BUT I don't mean to belittle your deadline, I just mean that it has little relevance to those working on OS4 & it's hardware.

Anyway, to reiterate the main point of my post (which you did NOT answer) : I think you should just put OS4 (and maybe the Amiga) on the back-burner, go find other things to interest you, and hopefully OS4 will get sorted before it becomes irrelevant to you.

Personally speaking, I reached your level of frustration about 6 months (?) back, when Troika failed to show anything for the second time (at the Big Bash show). At that point I stopped expecting OS4 to get sorted any time soon. But as I was still reasonably happy with OS3.9 under WinUAE, and I still have yet to find a better OS to switch to, I have stay using AmigaOS, along with Windows (to fill those gaps). By not expecting OS4 to suddenly get sorted, I no-longer feel frustrated

A further thought, which should not really affect you:

It seems very likely that there will be some Samantha announcements this April, perhaps even shipping to dealers - but I severely doubt that it will come with OS4 or even have an OS4 license. At that point the pressure will REALLY be on Amiga Inc to prove they want OS4 to succeed, so I expect we will soon find out Amiga Inc's true colours (good or bad). And I think THAT would be the rational point to truely abandon (or not) the Amiga.

@Thread

In case you didn't notice and I'm sure several of you didn't see this comment from one of the ACube team:

Within the end of march there will be more informations about our ongoing projects.
please be patient a little more, announcements (plurals, hint hint) need to be done the right moment.
