>>The minimig is not a hardware based UAE implementation. Dennis worked on the project from the ground up, based on available documentation and observed behaviour (in that if you write a certain set of values to the chips, the output is matched in his implemented hardware).

Excellent, that's what I thought, it's hardware based.

@Thread

I have cleaned the site up a bit and added more titles to the list:

http://www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/what_works.htm

Strangely three games work but with the missing/invisible main character sprite...

@TheDaddy

nice, a compatibility list,

I bit disepointed about the compatibility issues, but as it the first Amiga 500 clone,
and possibility of updated firmware, it's not that bad.

Thanks.

Yes I agree, there are a few programs that don't work but this is version 1.1 and apparently Dennis is working on an update.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Acube told me that Dennis is working on an update ... He knows that some bugs are present at this time. Anyway he achieved a really great job until now ! Thanks to him.

Your sprite issues will be down to the known "sprite engine" bugs mentioned on Dennis' website (and most of the wiki entries for the minimig). This would either point to behaviours not being catered for in the original chips, or logic errors in the reimplementation of them in the minimig core. I am sure that once the problem is traced, a newer core will be made available to everyone so they can update their firmwares.

@TheDaddy

Minimig tested with Kickstart 3.0 (animated diskette) and working fine.

Minimig tested with Kickstart 1.3 and working fine.

As said by Piru on amiga.org, as long as your images are NOT encrypted all the Kickstarts should work.

Mind you, the failing games or graphically corrupted ones still fail under both 1.3 and 3.0...

Tried Superfrog under both kickstarts and main sprite is still corrupted, for some we might have to wait for an update.

Updated the list with more games if you are interested...

Thanks

Not exactly surprising. I don't see too much use of Kickstart 3.0 for Minimig anyway. For most ECS/OCS games it just further lowers the chance that they work correctly.
(Although this would in most cases rather result in a Guru 80000003 than in any kind of graphical corruption)...

@Thread

Recently I got my Minimig from Vesalia. I've bought the Amiga Foreever online version a few weeks before, so I didn't bother about buying an additional kickstart rom for the Minimig.

Unfortunately in the readme Acube told the AmigaForeever encrypted versions of the kickstart rom are not supported yet by the Minimig firmware.

I must admit, I'm a little bit p*ssed of therfore!

Please can someone tell, were I can get an uncompressed 'backup' of my legally owned copy of kickstart rom to operate my Minimig?

@TheDaddy
very interested in your Minimig case.
Please tell if you have something ready.

Don't despair!

On amiga.org Piru says this:

"WinUAE decrypts them at loadtime, and when the emulation is running the KS ROM are available in memory. You must use some program to grab the KS ROM from within the emulation, with for example SaveROM program in BlizKick archive.
For 256KB KS ROMs you need to merge the file with itself so that you get 512KB file (for example "join kick13.rom kick13.rom to kick13_512k.rom"). "

Thanks go to Piru for explaining this.

>>very interested in your Minimig case. Please tell if you have something ready.

The case is half done...I would say in the next two weeks! Pictures will appear on my site. Thanks.

The Minimig doesn´t like longtrack ADF (above 880KB Filesize).
Someone should correct that in the minimig.bin?

In some other cases i found out that some two disc versions of turrican1 & 2 will not continew booting after intro-screen (end up in a black screen). One disc versions of this games will start and play without any glitches!

Thanks for this tip!
It worked like a charm.

Experienced a nice nostalgig retro flashback while playing old games on Minimig.
By the way -- you could add "Deluxe Galaga" to your list as compatible game.

Looking forward for your case!

I am glad it worked.

Those classics are brilliant!

Deluxe Galaga added to list.

Case in the next two weeks...

Unbelievable...

From AlexH on EAB:

"The first was a Wiki one, made so could edit it to add new titles

http://www.opencircuits.com/Minimig_Software_compatibility

And then some stoopid git decided he wanted to start his own non editable one and some mindless people have supported it:

http://www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/what_works.htm

Doesn't everyone realise that co-operation and user editable content is the future of the internet?"

Now what I would like to know is:
1) Is there a need to call people stupid?
2) It doesn't say anywhere that other people can't start their own list, as we know there is at least another one around. Is this the way you get repaid for your hard work, for wanting to spread the word and invite people to support and buy new Amiga products?
3) This isn't the best way to encourage people is it?
4) If I am not mistaken, my list and review came way before the wiki one
5) What is wrong with having more than one list, I think it's a positive thing so we can cross reference and double check.
6) What is this rubbish; "Doesn't everyone realise that co-operation and user editable content is the future of the internet?" And who says so? I am not going to allow people to modify my list, there is an email contact for that, and there is wiki.
7) and

Now I know that I should not make a compatibility list of my own. .

How did the case come out?

@Beamish2040

Hi,

I am still working on the case. I had to eliminate a few materials and parts to keep the cost down. These things can be expensive. I recently purchased a mini-itx case for my mini itx pc and I had to go for the cheapest option.....a cool (not) £54 (GBP) with no psu! OMG!

Also the minimig has the peculiar position of the ports, nine in total all around it, then there is two switches to take into account too, this only if you want to have access to the switches otherwise you can just cover them.

Ventilation should not be a problem, heat is almost zero.

Anyway, I should post pictures on my site soon...(two weeks?!)
