i havent used magellan before therefore i dont know it really.
but i do know ambient.

Multiple source and destination listers? - sure. with icon or (very advanced) list view.

What I meant was.. can you mark multiple lists as source and/or destination at once, and then do action that affects them all? A really silly example would be to have four listers, mark two as source and two as destination, highlight all files in the source listers, and then "copy", and have all files from both sources being copied to both destinations.

Configurable drag and drop with modifiers? - sure.

OK, so I can configure it to convert all image files to png if I drag and drop them with ctrl+left shift pressed down... for example.

Programmable listers?- sort of.

In dopus I used listers for all kinds of things, for example playlist for mp3/ogg playing, with custom music player button set. Used this to send off files to a linux box to do the actual playing.
I also made a mail reader that used dopus lister to list mails in a mbox...

Programmable icons/dock/menues? - theres panel for docks, you can use custom menus in ambient, you can use appicons, softlinks, bookmarks

Yes, but can you program appicons via arexx? Or the docks? Or menues?
I know you can with the menues, but even that is quite recently.

Grouping of icons on desktop? - sure, with panels or by hand:)

So you can mark off areas in which you want device icons to pop up, a different area for appicons etc? Cool.

I have hopes of getting a peg1 sometime soonish, guess I'll find out.

By right clicking on AmigaOS4.1 workbench, you get popup menu
select "Workbech" -> "Open volume" -> "volume to open"

Ok, this is going difficult as I'm still away from all Amiga systems and can't remember everything ;) But did that list include information about partition sizes, filesystems etc? You can rename and otherwise control volumes in it? It has assign lists? Can you get it opened more easily than navigating in menus?

AmigaOS4.x has commodity you can put in wbstartup,
this will enable context menu.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing. In MorphOS that means you can have popup menu over each file (in icon and in list mode), which has filetype associated actions for the selected file. Like sending pictures to editors or opening movies in different players etc. You can configure anything on them. I don't think I'd missed that kind of thing in OS4 :)

open files from shell according to filetypes.

AmigaOS4.x does whit whit WBRun command:
C:WBRun "filename"

Hmm.. did WBRun open data files without icon? Like "open blabla.avi" would play the avi with selected options on mplayer etc.... anyway OS4's filetypes configuring is pretty limited.. only to one action per type unless you start making heavier scripts etc. Open also opens locations etc on MorphOS, not just files.

That's why I still have Magellan integrated in my MorphOS setup :) It's just the best ftp-client...

ftpfs does that

No no :) Not all that what dopusftp does and with good addressbooks and custom settings and d&d support for startmenus etc :)

Sure, it uses default icon AFAIK.

Heavy scripts? Hardly, it's quite simple to fix multiple actions
WBrun also opens directories or whatever...
