I have a 20 meg connection. UK bandwidth is a lot higher average than the US.

Lucky you, you must live in or near London or some other grotty huge city.

Rural areas of the UK are still stuck at half a meg

Yet BT still insist we pay the SAME line rental as you lucky buggers that get acceptable connection rates

Bill.

PS. PlusNet my ISP even charges LESS to people that can get a good service than I have to pay - how logical is that ???

There is just no justice in the way the UK broadband system "works" some have all at less cost and the rest pay through the nose for a very inferior service.

@BillE

My ISP is something like that. I've got a 512k connection with unlimited bandwidth, I can get a fater connection, but with bandwidth limits, for less money.

I use my ISP becuase of good service history and that they have my website, which I don;t want to move. I think you can get abetter deal with BT direct, subject to availabilty that is.

Hmmn the average UK connection now is something like 3 megabytes. You can't even get lower than 5 megs on Virgin media now iirc.

Virgin Media cable broadband starts at 10Mbps now. I was on the cheapskate 2Mbps service and got automatically upgraded to 10Mbps this year.

Cool. Another awesome achievement from Jens!

On a side note:
Video feed has gotten better but seeing a lot of breakup on the wireless cam that is being walked around now.

EDIT: Saw enough to see it looks nice.

Yep, same problem here. I think they don't have enough bandwidth for us all. I hope they record it and podcast it later.

Awhile ago, Paul Sadlik finished his presentation on OS 4.1.1, and now we are waiting for the banquet to start.

@all

Rumor has it that someone was sober enough to turn the lights on for day #2, which now begins.

@number6

actually the lighting in the new room sucks. We had to move from the room you saw last night to another room in the hotel and set everything again. My network cable does not reach so we are making another one....

Heh, the new lighting is glaring on some screens, but other parts of the room are nicely dark, for example, the area for the Amiga gaming. At this moment wi-fi reception is spotty, and I might not be able to chat on #amiga.org at server us.synirc.net

For me, the Net was down for most of the day. I was on the Amiga.org chat for a few minutes this morning until I lost the connection. The room is being cleared out now... end of another AmiWest Show. We're going off to dinner.

Sounds like the show wasnt all that good this year. Maybe it wasnt such a bad thing not being able to make it after all. I havent heard any new or exciting details from it at all.
