Are all G4 Minis supported?
Are there a downloadable MorphOS ISO available for trial?

@Cav

1 ) Yes all G4 Mini are supported :)

2 ) Yes http://www.morphos-team.net/downloads.html

The unregistered version of MorphOS includes the full functionality, but slows down operation after a 30 minutes period until you choose to reboot your computer.

Thnx!

That's a sweet deal, absolutely tempted to give it a try.

@Drako

I got the iso and burnt it to cd however I cannot get the mini to boot from it by holding down c (for cd boot) or by alt. In both cases the mini just ejects the cd. I have tried 2 different burns. Any ideas?

Well done the the MOS team.

cheers

@Thread

I'm sorry I should have posted this on morphzone but the Firefox I'm using in my work doesn't allow me to log in out there

Anyway I already prepared my Mini some time ago. I got a 80 GB disk, right now 70 GB is used by an OSX installation, the rest (10G) has been left for MorphOS. So my question is - I guess now to install dual-boot MorphOS, all I gotta do is dividing the remaining partition into a small-one and a big-one, and then following the instructions from jacadcaps' manual?

@jacadcaps

The point would be a few thousand potential users and new paying MOS customers.

(I would not buy it for my SAM, though. But Ill by it for my MacMini.)

@Crumb

>>Mac Mini G4 is still the fastest "amiga"

Wrong.
It is NOW the fastest Amigalike machine, once MOS is installed.

Another thread for benchmarks?
Does it beat the fastest I7 +WinUAE?

Secondly I am sad for the state of our belowed Amiga, when people are cheering for an OS adaptation for an obsolete hardware... well, it is sad.

Mac Mini G4 is still the fastest "amiga"

The Amiga hardware brand is dead; there are no more Amiga computers.

What we are using now are PowerPC workstations.

Sam440ep no Amiga in that name
Elfika no Amiga in that name
Pegasus I no Amiga in that name
Pegasus II no Amiga in that name

MicroAmigaOne was the last Amiga computer.

And you can’t label a computer that was designed to run MacOS, and now runs MorphOS, as an Amiga compatible, because it does not run AmigaOS.

But you can take a buggy computer designed to run Linux, put an Amiga sticker on it and call it Amiga ?

I'm not following you...

@Leo

Can you (Leo and NutsAboutAmiga) just go away with this pointless dispute? MorphOS is not AmigaOS, Mac Mini is not Amiga is it that hard to understand? Most of users do not care about stickers, an "Amiga" sticker means nothing nowadays.

Aww, I need wireless support.

There are opensource drivers for the broadcom chipset in these Mac Mini's, can't it be ported?

Removed post, use the AR-button only for these things, and, in case you need to motivate it, send a PM to a staff member. / tomazkid

Nah, its a usb plugged directly into the mini. Boot choice (holding down alt)only comes up after the cd has been ejected.

Just to summarize with one crucial question: having already prepared my Mini (I mean a separate free 10G partition) can I just work out on dual boot WITHOUT having to reinstall my OSX?

As I said, I cannot login into morphzone (FF3 here).

@Thread

WiFi issues were discussed on MorphZone for a while.

Should any other Mac devices be supported in the future, there is a possibility of full (WPA/unencrypted) WiFi support.

However now I was informed that there is a device, already tested with Pegasos 2, that can bridge the WiFi in the air allowing the internet to be plugged into Mac Mini: EDIMAX EW-7206AP. The cost is around 30 Eur. Please goto MorphZone for user testimonials.

EDIT: link #7

There are also D-Link DWL-G810 and Linksys WET54G. Not tested, but functional counterparts, so should work.

Hmmm! 2.4 will not let me update my 2.2 Efika installation.
