Here we go again! Another video from the AmiWest Show 2009 has been posted -- this time it's Steven Solie's presentation of the programming language, Python, on Amiga OS 4.x. To see the video, go to

Here is the last video of this year's AmiWest Show. Dave Morris gives the awards to the winners of the Amiga games' competition, then Chris of AmigaKit shows off the Indivision ECS adapter, and finally there is a brief closing shot of show as everything winds down and people start to pack. Go to

@Ryu
Is it it only me? I can't play the keynote part 1 video with MPlayer here on OS4.1. Even my Windows machine is not able to decode that video (both only play sound...). What codec is used? The other transcoded videos (i.e. Steve Solie speech, Games comp.) play perfectly with MPlayer and my Windows machines...what's the difference???

@RobertB

If your cam sports a mic jack, you could just get a cheap mic to stick in front of whoever is talking. I found Steve Solies talk difficult to hear also.

If you have a large budget you might even go for a radio mic. A second camera could also help. Keep one on the speaker and one on the screen, then you can edit them together later, corssing over at will. I know that would probably increase your effort 10 fold, but if you really want a more professional look, it'd be worth it.

@all

Sorry guys, its my day off tomorrow so I'll have a look at it then and re-re-encode

Wierd its gone wrong though, its been converted in exactly the same manner as the other video's.

I'll try and get the other releases converted and up too.

I prefer not to put anything in front of the presenter; that person is already distracted enough by other mics in front of him or by wireless lapel mics hanging off of him. I see that my R0DE cardioid mic was not good enough in a noisy situation. I will strongly consider a R0DE shotgun mic, but the price will be high.

With all the wireless problems happening at AmiWest, I'd prefer not to have another wireless solution.

That would be another $800 for a Canon hi-def camcorder.

A/B editing would really take a lot of effort and would slow down my getting the video over to BIOS who puts them up on the Web for me. My goal for the AmiWest videos was to get them up on the Web as soon as possible.
