That's a good vision and I agree with you. And I think if you do it like in your vision, you'll sell a ####load of Commodore Amigas. I'll buy one. Two if you make a laptop/tablet . Three if you offer a smarphone _________________ The shadow is cast on who you used to be, Let me set you free. Come now, come take my hand, then you'll understand, We'll go to that forbidden land. |

Amiga computer without "Amiga OS"? Bad joke, I fear.

Well we must be listening to different tunes, then
All you nay-sayers, let's see your definition of a modern amiga computer and a non-whoring amiga company? A 2000 euro computer with an outdated OS? Who is whoring who or what? Last edited by Argosy on 31-Aug-2010 at 08:23 PM. Last edited by Argosy on 31-Aug-2010 at 08:23 PM.

It appears Commodore USA would offer AROS as an optional dual boot, that would fit all of BigBenAussie's comments. And it's not a bad thing. AROS needs work to be up to the task though. |

People that want and x86 pc branded Amiga without an AmigaOS, What stop you buying any PC an put an amiga sticker on it? An why the hell you want a normal PC running a PC operating system with the Amiga name?Last edited by Fransexy on 31-Aug-2010 at 08:38 PM.

If it´s have the Amiga name, then AROS should be the first operating system and not offer it optional. _________________ No PowerPC, No Fun Make Amiga Great Again |

I want it because it would be the best Amiga available at the moment. Oh, I could give Hyperion and a-eon 2000 euros and I would do it gladly if they'd sell it with a modern OS, but I need to develop in JAVA, flash, dreamweaver, Eclipse... and I can't do it on the X1000.
Thus, I'm FORCED to buy an X86 Amiga. Not beacuse I don't like PowerPC and AmigaOS, but because it's what reality is today. I cannot work on AmigaOS. And I do not want to shell out 2000 euros for a retro feel.

| Maybe A-Eon should wholesale their first batch of X1000s to Commodore USA, who will then rebrand them as Commore Amiga X1000s :)
I'm kidding... (I think) ;)

Then buy any PC out there or a MAC.Why so obsessed with the name? why the hell you want an Amiga PC to run any other OS? Why? why a common pc running a common operating system? it´s ridiculous and even of idiots; not from the standpoint of the seller but the buyer.Obviously they want only the Amiga name to sell more PC´s because on a small company every sale counts and build a new recognised brand is more difficult
Is as if Apple rebrand HP PC´s running Windows 7 or even linux as Macs _________________ No PowerPC, No Fun Make Amiga Great Again |

| Or, Commodore USA could sell empty "Commodore Amiga" cases, that just happen to suit Sam motherboards perfectly.
CUSA: if you use that idea, I wouldn't say no to a free Sam/case package Thanks in advance ;) |

BigBenTheAussie said a modern Amiga inspired OS. I can live with that... You know why? Because the official AmigaOS is nothing more then a retro gadget. You tell me, what are my options today? Should I give 2000 euros and play frogger on it? Or give 1000 euros and actually earn some money with it along with using all of the modern software today?
What are you accusing me of? Of wanting to use my Amiga as an everyday, versatile computer like so many of you did 15-20 years ago? Then yes, I'm guilty as charged.
Everything needs a revolution once in a while...

Yeah but with any x86 Amiga inspired OS you will have the same problem with the software and not, a linux or Windows with and Amiga like windows decorations and Wallpaper do not count as Amiga inspired OS_________________ No PowerPC, No Fun Make Amiga Great Again |

Here's a question, have you actually used an Amiga running OS4.1 or a PC using *urk* AROS? Because I don't believe that you have used either of them.

Anubis OS was a very good idea... That could work just fine(with some alterations assuring it remains as compatible with major linux distros as possible)
What's the alternative? Amiga brand will surely die if something majorly doesn't happen. I'd rather see it changed(for the better) then dead._________________ The shadow is cast on who you used to be, Let me set you free. Wizzard, I only used 68K OS and AROS. I have no need for OS4.1(doesn't offer to me anything of value). AROS I use for fun and for studying OS(as I'm thinking of starting a hobby OS project). _________________ The shadow is cast on who you used to be, Let me set you free. No... what's the point of it? I need to buy hardware that doesn't run pretty much anything else of any use and then I have to buy the OS. Since the Amiga community in Croatia is very small and scattered I haven't had the opportunity to try it out. I do not intend to buy it since, again, it doesn't meet my needs and for retro feel there's 68K and AROS(and I have a C64).
