@clusteruk

Hi Steven, I recently got re-interested in Amiga/Aros thru your videos. My old modified A1200 is in the loft somewhere. I've purchased Amiga Forever 2010 and I've got IcAros 1.2.3/1.2.4 on a class 6 SD card booting on my Acer 5732 Laptop, which has a Pentium dual core 2.1 Ghz (T4300) with Intel 4 series graphics and also my Acer Aspire A531 notebook (Z8), this has the N270 processor and GMA 945 graphics. Until you uploaded 'hdaudio 6.14' , the sound chip didn't work properly, but now outputs sound to the headphone or internal speaker, but only if I use the 'QUERY' command in 'prefs/en-archive/hdaudio.config'.
I haven't got the network working, but have only had a quick look at it. The wired looks similar to your A150 but the wireless is a Broadcom unit so I know that won't work unfortunately .
I would like to donate towards future developments but should I wait for the bounty to be set up or use the donate button on your web page?

Also, slightly off topic, I m not sure that the graphics on the A531 netbook is working properly. I have a similar tv to you. A Samsung 40inch 5 series LCD, capable of 1900x1080p. If I use the 'GMA' boot option at grub, I can only use a maximum resolution of 1280x1024, all the other higher resolution options shown on 'Pref/ScreenMode' arn't supported by my tv. Plus it says "Default 1280x1024" not "GMA blah x blah" at 'ScreenMode' as on your vids ?? If I don't do anything on the grub screen or select 'GMA netbook', it boots to the higher resolution Vesa 1600x1200 on my tv (the only option shown at 'Screen Mode').
To quickly test the graphics driver, I've used 'test/benchmark/graphics/writepixel array' and it says 50mb/sec at Vesa 1600x1200 and 67mb/sec at GMA-default 1280x1024. On the 5732 laptop using the internal Intel series 4 graphics at Vesa 1024x768, it was 114mb/sec which is nearly twice as fast. Have I got the correct screen driver installed for the Acer A531 netbook?
Paul

@reenie

Lets take this to PM as it is not relevant here except for the usual welcome.

Yet in this Amiga community there's no OpenSource without money involved...

Hmm last time I checked Aminet, OS4Depot, AROSarchive or MorphZone I saw plenty of open source and that wasn't requiring any sort of subscription or anything involving money, was it ??

Commodore USA have been very silent on this one considering they wanted these drivers so bad, and even mentioned it on Amiga.org that I was holding them up.

I suppose £750 may be a bit steep for them.

They should probably spend that money on a website first.

...and a PR agent.

This is half the price they were willing to pay ?

@clusteruk

AROS is probably out of the picture, partly thanks to the community and the reaction of some of the members here and elsewhere and partly thanks to Hyperion and their threats of legal action. BigBentheAussie did hint at not knowing is it legally possible now to continue with AROS in one of the threads...

But that suits me fine. Many interesting OSes out there that could be made into a new "Amiga OS" which are far more advanced then anything today in the world of Amiga.

I'm just curious, *what* picture is AROS probably out of?

@WolfToTheMoon

Nothing has been said to or about CUSA that hasn't already been doled out to A-Eon and Hyperion since the start of 2010. Trevor Dickinson has had it as bad or worse than Barry when it comes to personal attacks, too.

Serious companies stick it out, profiteers like CUSA make excuses - there's nothing stopping them from shipping AROS with their Commodore 64 lookalikes.

@T-J

Could not agree more.

And on the subject of Trevor, it is disgraceful the flack he has taken for doing something that everyone seemed to want.

@WolfToTheMoon

Same old story, Amiga not good enough lets use "insert popular OS here" and call it Amiga.

We will just carry on supporting Aros regardless

@deadwood

Just to be clear now that a bounty is open I will hold this offer open to the new year to give time. After that if it is not working then I have to accept I will need to find my own funding for the full amount although my friend Pascal will be helping as he believes in this project too.

Very interesting stuff, its nice to know that the money will go back to aros if the project doesnt happen. Would love to know what it is though.

Im know you realise that revealing the project would see the money go up alot quicker (if its as good as you say). But im sure you have a good reason? :) Hopefully gets some cash into it in the next few weeks.

I want this project to succeed, so must be under wraps until it is ready.

@clusteruk

One friendly questions, have you though ask money to Commodore USA for AROS project?
this strange question is very easy to explain, if you put money from your pocket to developt the AROS system drivers, (I think that is is good for all), I think that if Commodore USA only get the benefit of a good OS with good drivers that you or the community have paid, well, I think that if Commodore use AROS for his system, well, I think that it is theft or as little they tease us.

@Templario

It is something that worries me but we will take this as we go. Otherwise if we stop developing for fear of this then Aros will be stopped in its tracks and I want so much more for it.

@All

The bounty is now at $572. $728 still left to go :) If you are happy with using HDAudio or considering purchasing AROS machine which will require this driver, please consider donating as well!

Well i can't speak for Stephen but my part of investment will be secured... even if it is free to use and free to distribute(non commercially)... it will be blocked through license for C=USA....
they ####ed me off... and i'm not interested anymore to invest my time and money for a parasite which is clearly just headed to gain money...
SO i officially declar war.

I have let made a code audit of AROS....
I will bring a commercial distribution...
Even Broadway(free) will get a new license model (approved by lawyers ... sort of EULA)

This is not against the people who buy an CommodoreUSA prdouct....!!!
They are free to install AROS....
It is just that i hate to work and someone else gets profits WITHOUT doing anything!

Well i'm also really interested now to help Hyperion and Acube....... which are the "officials" in my eyes.... I'm in talk...

Again: It is not against the possible C=USA customer... i like the possibilty to gain more AROS users.... BUT! aslong C=USA does NOTHING i will block the coming stuff for them...

If they wan't it..... pay or support AROS.... that is all.
