Sorry if anyone found it offensive, but it was the best adjective I could think of, so that no-one would wrongly think that MorphOS runs on any of the Macs that Apple sells (or recently sold).

How about "G4 Macs" then? "G4" is even shorter than "old" and automatically rules out any old M68k, G1, G2 and G3 Mac.

'PPC-based Macs' would be less ambiguous, me thinks, and contrast perfectly with 'Intel-based Macs'.
Just a thought.

Nice you care so much about ppl just going out buying blindly a new Mac for MorphOS w/o reading the requirements at the MorphOS page...

For the sake of it: http://www.morphos.de/hardware.html

OK, final warning then. I've tried to talk to a few people involved in this thread, they insisted to keep acting like 4 year olds. I will now treat you like 4 year olds and show you to your room if you don't listen (ie give them a posting restriction).

While I find it very hard to imagine that you are referring to any of the posts I've made in this thread, you've been a bit too vague for me to be completely certain of this. I imagine others may be in a similar position. To avoid any surprises, I hope you will first warn those you are unhappy with (perhaps via a PM) before you start handing-out penalties...

@OldFart & recedent
"PPC Mac" does seem to be an ideal term. Dunno why I didn't think of it before. I will modify my earlier post. Sorry (again) if my previous term offended anyone.

@Zylesea
I would hardly want to be accused of spreading mis-information about MorphOS... (But it seems I'm damned if I try to do the right thing, and damned if I don't. I guess that's what's meant when they say "you can't please all of the people all of the time".)

@Fairdinkem
It was directed at the MOS users who join such threads just to spam about how much better their platform of choice is.
If you werent one of those, then it was not directed at you.

I myself want actually a MOS system as well, so i definitely did not mean to generalize.
I also know OS4.x "camp" got some members that behaves in the same way as well.

If/when MOS is ported to my Ibook g4 i will be a MOS user as well.

It was 'english'? Really? Then that must have been the reason why some words looked so familiar

EDIT: But where is the new AmigaOS4.x?

Edit: Yes to the point as Topic..

Update 2 of AmigaOS 4.1 available for immediate download

I would wish for an A1 update.

Update 3 of AmigaOS 4.1 available for immediate download including a new version of TimberWolf and printing for a HP LaserJet 2600n etc...

Too easy.

More cosmetic updates? Haven't there been quite a bit? Skins, transparancy, fancy gradient background configurations, window and screen drop shadows..?!

I wish for more and bug fixed drivers and stuff, like USB/CrossDOSfilesystem, gfx cards, web cams and stuff.

I guess I just love eye candy I would like an animated splash screen on boot up with a fuel gauge or something to indicate time left till booted both Apple and Microsoft have something like this.

I would also like in workbench some sort of widgets or gadgets applications like a weather app etc. I know we have the WET application but it is rather clunky and the StarDockBig theme only worked once for me and I could not snap shot the application where I wanted it

I think the docky bar looks dated as opposed to the likes of MacOSX and so do the Icons however the Sub dock menu is an awesome Idea I wish the gadget to activate the sub dock menu was a little more graphical than just a gadget arrow.

I don't say all this to be negative or pay out on the developers who have put in all the hard work to get AmigaOS4.x to where it is today with less of a budget to those I have made comparison to. I say all this because I like many others do love to use AmigaOS4.x and I want to see it advance and reach a new level in its development through the sharing of opinions and expression of Ideas.

I also want to see things like greater GFX Card support, I definitely want full speed USB2.0 or even USB 3.0 would be nice and better printer support among many things

Both App. and MS boot so slowly you need a progress bar. On Amiga you wouldn't have much chance to see it.

Stardock looks nice and has big enough icons. Widgets. They're called Commodities, Dockies or any small app would do. People just have to start creating more tiny little apps and add really fancy graphics into them. It doesn't have to be branded or called with some specific name. I've been toying with an idea of MiniScreen (click me to see a screen grab) which uses cell phone app style plugins internally.

You mean that popup menu to change the whole content of one dock ? I saw a picture of a 3rd party Rocket dock (?) (for Windos) which used tabs to switch between this kind of subdocks. Maybe tabs would be cooler than a popup menu with an arrow button. On AmiDock you can do subdocks with Subdock docky and cool docks with Minimizer docky as well.

Heh, yes, the best way to get idea of weather is put your head out of a window rather than watching fancy pictures on a computer screen. Usually that weather information is not collected from your home city so it's not even accurate. But these weather apps are suitable type of software to include fancy looking graphics into a computer program to show it off in PR and marketing material and make that material to look good.

are you talking about the "categories" or really "subdocks"? Because you can choose whatever icon you want for the "Subdock".

Regarding the icons, the ones which come since update 1 look gorgeous. IMHO a nice way in between realistic and painted icons. Mason did a real good job.

Yeah, I've made all of my sub-docks appear as nice-looking folder icons (thanks Mason!). In fact, that should really be the default IMHO.

Sorry but OS4.1 license is EXACTLY the same as Windows.

Why? Because OS4.1 is an OEM license which, like Windows, is specific to a board.

The difference is that you can pay more and get a full license that you can install
over and over again on different hardware. Hyperion don't have this yet, if ever.
