Hello Hyperion developers

What is the status of Amiga os 4.2? We have not heard much if anything from your company in regards to the latest upgrade to the awesome Amiga operating system...

i wonder if they already started the betatest of amiga os 4.1 u2 for classic, choosing the betatester or not..

Well not interested in classic news, that really just hot fixes for problems with os4.0 and classics. Intersted in next gen ppc system os 4.2!

Judging by your previous OS you dont even seem to run OS4.x, so why the heck do you even care??
And where is the so called promise of 4.2??

Why do you think there is already something called OS4.2? They certainly haven't mentioned or promised any such thing.

The next release might be called OS4.1 Update 3, or they might wait until the X-1000 is released and release something called OS4.2 then, who knows?

Maybe they haven't even thought about it yet. We do know something, though. With the work on Classic 4.1 and two new platforms (Sam 460, X-1000) to support, they must be pretty busy.

Here we go again with the blind fanboyism. You would think you guys would WANT OS4 NEWS. You would think..

For the last time I have a Peg2 and the only reason I still have it is to potentially run os4. But if there is not much going on with it I might as well sell it and go Apple with Morphos and keep my A4000d going.

You have a PegasosII? And what news do you wait for? "AmigaOS 4.x supports virtual multidimensional core quantum computing on single core PPC systems build by BPlan"???

Why not go out and get AmigaOS4.1 for PegasosII? And make the "potential" to something real?

I'm thinking about it for Christmas :) But i'm tempted to go g4 1.5ghz mac mini with morphos/osx. I'd really miss the peg though, its quad boot. WIth OS4 it would be pentaboot? :P Is that right?

The thing is I want to be sure there is a future in it as $160 for os4 can go to a new mac mini.. but if there is life with os4, firefox port, ooo port etc I'd do it.

Simple advice for Christmas:
1) Buy Amiga OS 4.1 for your Pegasos 2
2) Let your wife/brother/sister/parents buy for you Mac Mini and another MorphOS 2 licence
3) Enjoy both

AmigaOS4.1 has already had *two* updates this year (which compares favourably to MOS's three updates).

We know they are working on polishing USB2 for OS4.

We know they are working on OS4 for Sam460, X1000 & Classics. Lots of work in itself.

We know they have started work on Gallium/OpenGL for OS4.

We know they have started work on SMP (multi-core) support for OS4.

Hyperion got a settlement with Amiga Inc, vastly in Hyperion's favour, allowing them to move forward without more distractions.


Really, what more do you want?

Penta boot? Why not - my PegII is triple boot at the moment (MOS, AOS, Xubuntu) and might be quad boot in some weeks (playing with MOL).

Hyperion have a Team working on OS4.1. The Frieden brothers are at the heart of that team, but it is a lot more than just them.

If you like OS4 and you already have a fairly good hardware I think you should just go out and buy it. FF/TW already exists for OS4.1.2 (alpha of course, but it's out).

Or were you thinking that you'd wait for OS4.2 so you don't have to buy it again? Well, good point... don't know if there will be 4.2 or 4.1.3 when Sam460/X1000 is out. Still, I'd say go for it now.

I got a MacMini recently but I actually have to say that I kind of felt my XE/800 to be a bit more responsive than MOS on that 1.25GHz machine (or was it 1.5GHz?). Just go for it, OS4 that is
