@jurassiccamper

Perhaps Alan from Eyetech can bring along one of their natty Amiga-based Karaoke units?

C'mon, this ought to be the biggest party in Amiga history[3]. We have waited ten years for new hardware and OS and it is finally here.[1] That sort of gap deserves an Amiga-based party, and if Alan, the Friedens or any number of other people that have played a significant part in "making it happen" turn up, I'll buy them a drink.[2]

Chris
[1] that's assuming The_Editor has done his research properly and there actually is something to celebrate

[2] Providing it doesn't amount to any more than a handful of people

[3] But in reality will probably be five sad gits standing around an Amiga

Sounds good to me, Ooo, can I bring my camera and film a good p*ss up, sounds like something that should definately be captured for prosperity, even if we end up keeping the film only available to those present, don't want to give the impression to the outside world that we are a load of drunken B star D's (or maybe we do )

AFAIK its an OS4 Demo. But with the added attraction of us having a party and disco. (partners welcome). With all the crap, false starts the community has suffered through the last 10 years it seem like a good idea to have an OS4 demo with a bit of a difference.

@jurassiccamper

EXACTLY. Lift the spirits somewhat !!

Might be a bit cold for a B.B.Q .. Talk of bloody snow again !! Although there is a BBQ area (segregated) out back.

I don't know Svens email .. So if someone wouldn't mind asking if he wants to attend it would be appreciated. Maybe Sven can bring some goodies.

I know Alan is NOT available for this date, which is a shame, but he says .. "Party On" without him !!

Jurassic ... Yeah .. see what you can come up with at Makro !! We'll set a table up at the back of the hall for the eats. ( Although there is an EXCELLENT chinese takeaway right next to the hall ~ Literally, AND a chip shop).

Of course .. Partners & your rugrats are welcome.

My brother is a Youth leader and is trying to secure the use of the (Prehistoric?) Disco EQ .. He tells me its Vinyl stuff only on it... Although if need be the DJ can plug my house CD player into the Aux.

Its looking good peeps.

i travelled the 200 or so miles to the newcastle show and i'd jump at the chance of a closer OS4 demo to ask some more questions and get to see the system close up. Is there anything final that someone could add to the events section of this site?

@niceguy1979

Well 3 of us from SEAL travelled 300 miles to attend the show, but thats not the point is it, we were just glad to be there and part of it

The good news is it looks like I will be able to go (someone has agreed a shift swap), do I bring my A1 running OS4 or do you have enough systems?

Also I think we (bound to bring other SEAL's with me) will possibly want to stay the night somewhere (cheap) after the party........ any ideas?

@sicky

no the point was that i travelled and are willing to do the same again, as you guys are. what people should see from this is that the community is still strong and commited enough
i wasn't trying to win brownie points or anything and if thats what you thought then you obviously need to be a bit more objective about things
if you can bring your machines i think that would be cool and i dont think that anyone else would mind
i can bring extension leads and multiway socket things if needed

@niceguy1979

I wasn't having a go at you, just wanted to show that people who care enough are willing to make the commitment (as you have done) and to put something "into the community".

There are just so many people who have nothing more to do than troll or make snide remarks without even knowing anything about what they talking about. It's nice to meet the people who "put their money where their mouth is" so to speak

@The_Editor

Not sure if i could make it all those miles over to P'Boro from here in Leicester... you know the A47 is a real pain!

Well, can't say for sure, but there is a good chance a few of us from Leicester might be heading across, only managed to convince one person to go to Bath, P'boro sounds a little bit more promising though.

Pingu cometh to Pedabara ! (Hopefully!)
