Dude, chill out. I think you need to go for a full-day spa visit or something. Really.

I can almost feel the foam frothing from here.

What conformism?. Are you saying there is more option to choose towards a ppc desktop than a x86 one?. Where are these different options?.

You missed the point PPC IS a different option to X86 & there is a real trend to have everyone on the same generic X86 hardware & just slap a warm fuzzy brand name on it. I want a hardware choice not a another software choice, this is a hardware thread right?

If I dont need another budget power machine I have a Win, Linux, BeOS etc etc capable one I'm posting with right now.

Same for me. Sounds more just like "we are still alive and working".

What i in interest to know, its : did onboard sound on x1000 have ahi-drivers already or not. Have amigaos4 some _real_ bugs on x1000 right now, or for example, maybe there is some problems with HW which will give problems with aos4 porting (while linux can works fine already). Did onboard SATA works in DMA mode on x1000 on aos4 already, or, the same as sam460 working in slow mode. Did all the interfaces and extensions of motherboard working at full and as should ?

For me, those "news" its all only words. And more of it, i think we still will wait 1 year (or more) for final release of x1000 for mass production with fully working aos4 on it. Imho all that "waiting is over" messages was to early.

Why no videos how aos4 working right now ? Since last amiwest passed a lot of time, so something new and fresh for sure will be intersting to see. Some posts on blog about it also will be interesting and so on. For now its all just "we working, soon betatesters will have boards".

@realize

Well Some news is ok news... the problem is I can deduce some things here. A. If the ARTICLE on the Nemo (x1000) board is coming in JULY issue of the amiga mag you sure wont see boards for sale until maybe christmas. B. Beta testers have yet to get boards and run os4. This further strengthens the argument in A. C. No hyperion or aeon representative has posted on this 11 page thread. Which again, strengthens position A. Furthermore, like ka1se says not one video or screenshot or ANYTHING since Amiwest (were little was shown there imho) further backing up argument A. So in summary not good news :( Dont you guys think if OS4 was having progress and the board was working properly with it we would have all kinds of news and propaganda? I mean how much propaganda 2 years ago with the "What is X ? " Campaign? (hence the title of the post)

So If there is not news, BAD, and if there is news then WORST

@TrevorDick

Thank you for posting. Glad to see some progress. The boards going into production is a big step. I think its important to note there is no os4 screenshot? I find that unusual is there a development snag?

Also, with those nice temp numbers you really should aim for a passively cooled solution then..

You got your information about what is happening at the mfg plant, now shut the heck up and let them do their work.

+1

They are working on the X1000, being testing, porting Linux, writing drivers, porting the OS4 HAL, developing the OS4 kernel. That's it. Work. Period. Just 'realize' this and shut up. Nothing good comes from this eternal ranting. They won't be working faster, it won't be less buggy, it won't arrive faster just because they give more "news" or status updates.
and that's it.

Now go do something productive.

Since you are about to start production, what will be the retail price for the base retail model?

You certainly mean the 3rd coming, as the 2nd coming was roughly 2 milleniums ago according to the bible...

I don't care if the Amiga has been reduced to a hobby-OS, there's no excuse for such anemic hardware at such high prices.

There's also no excuse for adult people not willing to work hard enough to get/have this money, but instead are flaming those that do.

@Senex

"media" tab. hmm...2 places really.

Try clicking the boing ball lower right and then clicking "news".

Then click the "news" for the Nemo2 update. That should do it.

Eh, what? Good God you need to relax about all this. Who called the MorphOS guys criminals? And that "clown" took donations that people made for work already done. Was there even a bounty at all? Hell, I don't see you rolling your own non-crap OWB build.

You should grow up, stop flinging the personal insults for no apparent reason, and then maybe people might respect your opinion a little more. I know I have a hard time seeing things from your point of view when you post drivel like that.

I think good when news are news, with videos and screenshots. With techical detailed information , about progressing of aos4 on x1000. I will not believe that there is no problems with porting, for sure there should be some bugs. Also interesting to know if all the drivers are done, without limitations (like no drivers for that and that, but soon). That what is interesting to know.

@Trevor

Thanks for images, but as i see there is only 1 more or less os4 related screenshots, and its somehow merget with some debian stuff together.. It is possible to make some normal screenshots of aos4 on x1000 , without merging with debian, etc ? Some screenshots which show actual HW info, which show some application (like owb/dbplayer/tunenet running) running at one time ?

But of course, the better its just to make a small video for 5-10 minuts, on which you just power-on x1000, show the booting speed, then running 10 games , 10 apps, e-uae , and some other stuff (with enabled sound of course) to see all of this in action. I think then everyone will be pleased :)

And have an option to make my X1000 look like a YDL PowerStation.

Wait. Ported? Oh damn it needs to boot off the standard live DVD!

Images are under the News link. Alas the image fly-outs are broken under Safari so I can only see 4 in the actual News window itself.
