@mods

this thread should be moved to 'general technology.' yet another linux distribution with absolutely nothing innovative or new that didn't already exist has nothing to do with alternative amiga platforms. at least, that's how it seems to me....

Hi Barry...

I know I just asked this question a few minutes ago on your CommodoreAmiga.org site and got a rather lame reply from Leo and nothing from yourself, so I'll ask again here...

Why do you not allow commenting on your YouTube channel !!!

Please don't give the same rubbish reply Leo gave it's a genuine question and I would just like an answer to it please...

Hmmm...

The eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.
Will we get two minutes silence perhaps?

Hi Barry...

Forgot to mention...but I know your a stickler for copyrights (remember how you complained to YouTube and got my spoof video of about your C64x advert removed on copyright grounds), well I thought I'd help you out here...

You do realise that the A500 picture you have used in this wee video at approximately 12 seconds in, is Copyright 2006 by Bill Bertram...

So just to help you out I've managed to find a contact email address for Mr Bertram just to make sure everything is above board and that you obtained the correct permission to use this image, I've passed him your details and a link to your video so hopefully if you had obtained the proper permission for use of this image you or YouTube wont get a complaint from Mr Bertram...

No need need to thank me for this, the pleasure was all mine...

no thanks as I already run Debian on my Amiga

@ Franko

I'm sure they got copyright permission for the video because we all know that they care so much for the Amiga community

SinclairOS getting ready! That must be interesting thing to behold if that was a new OS.
But its 2DVD Linux and we`ll see what is in the jampack

Details are no details (of an OS)
and video and teaser are the same.

Remember when computing was fun is OS4 motto and appeal is very similar

However, this was very true for SinclairUK computers so far

P.S.
SinclairOS "NoVision" to be out on 12.12.012

Major features:

- there is no task too big or too small for a Spectrum or QL computer to accomplish, especially if we can sell something existing rebranded as something new.
- SinclairOS NoVision will be available for free download by the general public shortly.
- SinclairOS NoVision is beta software under continual development, making every user a beta tester.
- There are no warranties whatsoever regarding its usage or applicability for any purpose (meaning you are responsibile for our product and we have usual 0 guarantee).
- The focus has been on the system working well on Sinclair hardware and usage on other systems may vary (meaning it can work on any computer, but we don`t like it).
- SinclairOS NoVision is 8-bit software only, to make the most of the latest technology.
- Sinclair ROMs are provided with our machines or purchased media only.
- Please note that SinclairUK does not provide telephone support for this software at this stage
or doesn`t plan to have any support yet.
So far our motto was:
"No other system comes with so much no functionality out of the box."
Now with SinclairOS it is
"No other system comes with so much free software at one place."

I'm just helping out Barry here in case he "forgot" to obtain permission to use that image...

Slightly off topic but interesting nonetheless, did you know... on YouTube just underneath the video is a little flag...

Clicking on this wee flag brings up a list of options one of which is for "SPAM" when you highlight "SPAM" you then have the option to report a video as "Mass Advertising" which is against the TOS on YouTube...

You should try it sometime... I did...

What about COS2, will it still be something other than Linux and is there any time scale for the arrival of that?

Cheers

Do you really think that "Barry" cares about your opinions and posts? Thats schizophrenic behavior patterns that give you importance. I love how you act like you know the man. Just stop it.

Only after I pointed out who the copyright owner actually was...

Still a bit dodgy though on YouTube's policy against "Mass Advertising" but I should hear from them shortly on that one as I thought I'd check that out for you too Leo...

PS: Noticed Dammy removed both yours and my posts over on CommodoreAmiga.org, strange that eh...

As much as we should care about Barry and his exploit products that make a sad
picture of how capitalism exploit feelings and cheats customers into "selling apples for bannanas" - just by using apple tm stickers (not to use some harsher Serbian parallel).

Especially sad is SinclairUK representation as continuation of the both Commodore and Amiga brands in historical terms, with no mention its actualy a new company that just got the licence to make new computers with old names and looks. Is that a fair advertising?

And probable reason why their YouTube comments are off and Facebook censored, is that they don`t like people pointing out the simple truths (you are not that, that is not this, your OS is just Linux etc.)

"Remember when computing was fun".. hmmn sure Hyperion used that one 10 years ago.

Nice video though, snaps of an A500 and Workbench 1.3... shame it doesn't show the truth and a photo of a bog-standard IBM-Clone PC running Ubuntu or Windows 7 at the end.

Sod all to do with the Amiga, this is a new "IBM PC clone" not an Amiga. Barry needs to learn his platforms.

For a $30K system you'd think they could afford better production values for their videos too, my 14 year old sister could knock that up in Windows Movie Maker in 10 mins.

still does. but then again, based on history, what do you expect but blatant theft and misrepresentation from this group of clowns?

in fairness to them, though, they don't claim it has anything to do with the amiga. it's called 'commodore' OS and is linux. they make no bones about this. they tried calling it workbench but thought better of it; and for that, i am grateful. one less insult to the amiga legacy from the florida duo.

Indeed, sad they got a lot of press a while back, still I talked a good few people out of buying the C64x in IRC/Forums a few months back when I linked them to threads detailing CUSA's wrong-doings and appalling behaviour, they soon put their cash back in their pocket. (Including one very high profile technology figure who almost bought one but was disgusted at what he read later.).

Well the first half of the video shows Amigas.Quote:
