Well, what is new?
Some new forums, one closed, new news topics, and one news topic gone.

PM me or Steve regarding any "bugs", there should not be any, but you never know.

Also, if someone would like to make icons for the AROS forums, please step forward

Ah, yes.
Forgot the current one was a combination.

So, anyone who can do an icon for MorphOS forums?

Excellent news, thanks!

Will post some logos... just realised you'll need GIFs.

Any chance you can increase the ridiculously small (by 2011 standards) image size/resolution for the gallery.

At the moment it's a huge hassle having to resize, resave, try upload, shrink it a bit more, fails again etc. I'm pretty sure that's why nobody posts there much these days.

Ok, how's about these? I should say that the AROS 'eye' logo isn't my artwork, I've just resized it, added a drop shadow and tweaked it a bit.

Small (16x16)
Big (24x24)

Sad that you have removed CUSA-related from the front. They were actually very interesting for the visitors as "visits" received high numbers in a short time.
Whatever is written on the CUSA, the truth is that most people are very interested to read about them.

You do what you want with your forum but I think this is a mistake!

splendid. i hadn't posted here in a while but with these changes, i'm happy to return. these changes, though subtle, make all of the difference in the world.

At last ! Now all oses have the same attention. Maybe also change a bit "extras" area, to have not only OS4 Zone, but also MOS and AROS ones ?

But in general, i as plain user only miss ability to setup on accounts some kind of blacklists, in which you can set messages and topics from whch persons you didn't want to see , and then everyone will be happy imho. No need for new mods, and there will no need for bans or anything.

@kas1e

The OS4 Zone is hardly used, and I very much doubt it would be used by MorphOS and AROS at this point in time. I am sure that if the AROS or MorphOS communities would want something like that it can be easily added later.

Imho Zone area just not get much attention lately as all the stuff in are too old. Maybe with making some new articles and putting them in zone (as well as some resturcurisation of whole area) can attract some attention and be in use ? If so, i can help with some articles (through some proof-checking will need, to correct my english)

@kas1e

The problem is, and has been from the beginning, that we need people to actually write articles. The Zone idea itself is a very good one, but needs people that are willing and have time.

Giving them their own forum as opposed to getting shoved into 3 other forums should be considered a step forward, not backward. Sorry you continue to see things in the most unfavorable light.
btw-One of the forums they could use was "free for all" which was -always- a forum tagged to -not- be viewable from the front page, so this is not any different in that regard.

@number6

I don't envy the admin/moderator's task in this regard.
On the one hand, the site will be a lot more 'friendly' and approachable to initial visitors - not having the frontpage continually jammed up by a few flamefests relating to CUSA (which, let's face it, make us seem even more geeky-obsessive than -even we- really are).
On the other hand, it seems to be a victory for the small subset of CUSA thread spammers.

I've generally avoided posting in CUSA threads, mainly since they inevitably end up in childlike circular arguements reminiscent of the worst red/blue-WOS/PUP-etc/etc eras.
If this move helps to diffuse that vitriol, allowing a sane discussion of CUSA to take place occasionally without heavy moderation, then maybe it will be worth it in the end.

Perhaps having moderation/temporary bans limited to a particular forum rather than the whole site might be a 'happy' compromise which would allow discussion to continue without affecting the 'fairness' of this site wrt the way it deals with Amiga-related alternatives?

Regards

Rich

@Boot_WB

The result may well depend on how it is administered.
For example, we have (1) forum already that has an entirely different degree of moderation than all of the others.

Developer Projects Forum
Quote:
ALL off-topic posts, flames, or new posts in this forum not by a project member will be deleted, and may be dealt with harshly.

Apparently, since this forum has not had any issues whatsoever in the 5 years of its existence, the notion that discipline of a different order will be applied, -does- make a difference.

Whether that same order of discipline need be applied to any of the new forums has yet to be determined.

I'm no fan of CUSA but this nonsense of moving them off the front page is really quite sad and pathetic in my opinion...

This way to the labour camps please, oh sure the condemned, erm... sorry workers are free to speak and you can speak to them, you just have to make your way past the guard dogs and machines guns if you want to hear what they have to say...

@Mods

Thanks for listening to the community in regard to C=USA and making this happen many of us can now rest easy.
