Progress slow on Jack atm due an unresolved issue with Hollywood and the new OS Kernel which was launched last week - together causing DSIs randomly on program launch. Lots of unnecessary soft-rebooting.
Here is a screenshot below, it shows a new feature, AppStore users can now comment on software available in the store itself.

@vox

I don't know.

Yes I look forward to a Hollywood fix asap. However, haven't heard anything from Andreas as yet.

@djrikki

Jack 4.1 now available on OS4Depot.

Registered users of the AppStore can now add their own comments against any software they download from the store and of course read the thoughts and reviews of other users.

Plus a few more observed bugs have been fixed mainly in the Search window (the action buttons are now usuable again!) and the Dashboard Menus (right-click to access).

Finally, I've submitted a gazillion MUI-related bug fixes and enhancement requests to Andreas (Hollywood Developer) over the course of the last 12 months. Upon the release of next MUI Royale version I will make an immediate start on making the most of the bug fixes, changes, updates and enhancements. Two big examples of which I am currently unable to implement are:

1) Cut/Copy/Paste on all text fields
2) Column-Sorting in the AppStore on all listviews - I badly want this!

@djrikki

It doesn't work amazingly well atm, but how about a Thumbnail Browser window to go with the File Manager?

Adapted an idea from AndreasM (at Amiga Future)... popular Tech RSS News Feeds tab in the Dashboard.

And Yes I realise the News Items aren't sorted by the Date Column as this is currently not possible in the publically available version of MUI Royale - sorry I'd love to have sorted Columns throughout Jack but isn't currently not possible!

As requested by @MikeyC:

'I want to be able to add other available RSS Feeds like the BBC...'

Your wish is my command

All correct and working as intended.

Ah starting to look better, just another parsing feed job to do having a little trouble with feed files that have been 'minimized'.. e.g. little or no tabulation.

@djrikki

New RSS news feature is very nice, shame about column sorting (lack of) as you say.

@djrikki

I really like the latest version of Jack for AmigaOS4.1. It works great. The app store is a great feature. A very useful utility. Great work!
Two questions: Is there any way to get rid of the volume control imagery that appears stuck next to the Jack calendar/weather window? I do NOT have mixer installed, and don't want to right now, and the volume control images look bad and are of no use.
Secondly, is there any way for the user to configure the size of the Jack icons that appear in the Dshboard window? They are a bit too big....

Thanks!

Scott

Completely untested but MorphOS and AROS versions of Jack being given the MUI treated are now available on the links below for testing.

Might burn MorphOS onto DVD in the next couple of days and try and get it working on my old iBook.

If the AROS version fails too, the pre-MUI version is still on AROS Archives for everyone to enjoy.

http://www.lakemarketingandevents.co.uk/jack/Jack_AROS.lha
http://www.lakemarketingandevents.co.uk/jack/Jack_MorphOS.lha

If peeps can post exactly what happens with either version here on this thread it would be most appreciated.

PS. With the AROS version it might be a good idea to update all MUI Classes - i.e. those found in the Archives and on sourceforge.

@realize

Well it is included with the distribution so error shouldn't be appearing.

Available here separately.

@djrikki

Jack looks good. Thanks for your hard work, I am tempted to give it a go.
The need to register my real details and also that it scans my system set up makes me wonder if Jack gathers and send out to you any usage or system setup information?

If so, what info can I expect to be sending?
