@djrikki

New main Calendar window:

http://www.lakemarketingandevents.co.uk/jack/jack_calendar.png

With a smaller interface the dates of the month need slight adjustment before public release.

So what's hiding behind the Dashboard button?

....

Hope you like!

So who exactly needs a Start Menu?

My latest addition to Jack, an Application Launcher for AmigaOS4 which actually works closely with AmigaOS4's AppDir functionality.

Starts Applications, Search through Installed Apps, Show (Application) in Drawer, WBInfo, Filename to Clipboard what more do you need? Apart from colour icons that is... still haven't figured how to do this yet as Hollywood unfortunately (right now) does not support loading of AmigaOS4 icons - grr. Perhaps 'PEB' behind the IconEditor can help?
( http://www.os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=graphics/iconedit/iconeditor.lha )

It will almost remove old links to software that has long-since been deleted from your computer by managing the AppDir list directly. Plus you can also Add Applications to the list as well, i.e. those has yet to be run once.
Hyperion discourage Applications being install to the System Partition/Drive so I've even added a checkmark/toggle for that too.

:)

@djrikki

Does this work on the X1000 yet? Sadly it hasn't worked on mine for some time now...

@Valiant

Does the installation fail or something?

I have amended it slightly for the next release anyhow so perhaps that will catch whatever if you may have previously experienced.

No reason why it shouldn't 'run' I have many X1000 users who have signed up to the store and have reported no problems.

After over 5 months of redevelopment Jack 4.0 for AmigaOS, AROS and MorphOS is on the verge of being released.

New features in 4.0 include a complete refactoring of the interface to take full advantage of MUI, redesign and streamlining of the Calendar/Commodity window, a new Dashboard window giving quick access to not only the unique features you already gfamiliar with, but some new ones too. The dashboard has a Application launcher with search and add capabilities, an online search interface for of all the popular search engines and social media sites, a bookmark tab of all the popular AmigaOS centric websites and more.
Jack 4.0 also comes with the AppStore as before, but has been given a massive facelift and brings much to the table as would be expected of any modern AppStore.
Watch this space.

@djrikki

the only thing I would suggest is making the app store its own separate program, plus are you working for DiscreetFX, project metropolis

@amigang

Yes and no, it would be quite easy to add a new page tab into the App-Store for such purpose, however DiscreetFX aren't that amazingly forthcoming with information of what products are to appear. I have very little info on the 'developer programme' as well, I can imagine that there has been very little success.

I'd rather support AmiBoing/EntwicklerX instead.

hmmm strange ... (from amiga.org)

Pyromania:
Project Metropolis is moving along fine, when not just get it direct from its developer.

Me:
Is that the client for Metropolis?

Pyromania:

Update 4.0.1 on OS4Depot, check the uploads queue first.

Fixes a number of issues. I'd like to re-code the installation at some point into 'Installer', but having some troubles understanding LISP.... its a bit anal with all them brackets!

Once it was clear which dir to install to there were no more installation errors and Jack now runs like a charm...

@all

Jack 4.0.3 now released. You can either download it as always from OS4Depot, in the application itself or alternatively kill two-birds with one-stone, sign-up to the appstore and download it on the link below as well.

http://www.lakemarketingandevents.co.uk/jack/signup/

Also in this month's edition of Amiga Future (Issue 103) you can read an impartial review of Jack for AmigaOS alongside lots of other news, game reviews, articles and much for our favourite platforms AmigaOS, AROS and MorphOS.

@Dave

Hi, sounds similar bug to the one reported by GIgi Burdo. I am going to produce a debug version later today to try and isolate why the MUI interface is not being created for some users.

@klx300r

I'll take a look at that too.
